Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, December 30, reveals that Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) cried to Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) over EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) payments to Jason Smith (Noel Gugliemi), which weren’t legit. Li Shin (Remington Hoffman) also named Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) the sole CEO, so here’s how it all went down on Thursday’s DOOL episode.
At the bar, Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) suggested to Gabi that they needed a new plan, but he didn’t have time to explain before Shin arrived for their meeting.
Jake urged Gabi to follow his lead as they pushed hard to have EJ removed from his co-CEO role at DiMera Enterprises.
Shin assumed Jake thought he should be leading instead and wondered if they’d filled Chad in on their plan to make him collateral damage.
However, Jake and Gabi downplayed any Chad-related drama. They just focused on getting EJ out and played the part of very concerned shareholders.
Once Gabi was alone with Jake, she expressed her worries over steering their scheme away from Titan.
Gabi seemed to think she was getting shoved aside while Jake climbed back to the top at DiMera, but Jake reassured her about their DiMera and Titan takeover intentions.
Next on Thursday’s Days episode, Chad confronted Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) about what he was doing on the DiMera computer.
Chad didn’t buy Lucas’ bogus story about hacking the system to find proof against EJ and decided that Lucas must’ve been planting the proof instead.
Chad ultimately realized that his brother must’ve been right – that Lucas was framing EJ for kidnapping Sami.
Nevertheless, Lucas pushed Chad to use his fake evidence of payments to Jason in Milwaukee so they could both get what they wanted.
At the DiMera mansion, Sami told EJ he didn’t have to resort to flinging wild accusations at Lucas since they were already back together.
That news certainly didn’t please Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), but she eventually decided she was glad Sami had shown her what an insensitive, shallow “son of a bitch” EJ was.
Nicole acted like she was only with EJ to make Sami miserable anyway. She snapped about how Sami and EJ deserved each other before heading out the door on Thursday’s Days episode.
EJ was mildly annoyed over Sami rubbing her victory in Nicole’s face, but he was happy they had reunited. He maintained his kidnapping innocence and pointed out there wasn’t a shred of evidence other than Jason’s statement.
Suddenly, Chad walked in with “proof” of EJ’s recurring payments to Jason. He lied that he stumbled across the info while auditing DiMera’s quarterly expenses and showed Sami, who declared EJ was a “lying bastard.”
EJ tried to convince Sami he was framed, but she said a cold goodbye and walked out on him.
While EJ and Chad bickered in the aftermath, Shin arrived to announce that EJ was hereby removed from his position at DiMera Enterprises.
Shin made it clear that Chad was now the permanent sole CEO.
At the Salem PD, Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) was surprised that Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) wanted to do something for New Year’s Eve.
Rafe wondered who else he’d spend New Year’s Eve with, so Ava fumed as she thought back to his kiss with Nicole.
Ava suggested they should have a little celebration with friends – though she really only had one.
Rafe realized Ava was talking about Nicole and pointed out that he’d been keeping his distance from her, but Ava acted like they were all adults and could handle this.
Ava also suggested she wanted to check on Nicole due to the whole situation with EJ and headed out. At Basic Black, Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) told Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) about his plan to track Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) down.
Chloe knew Brady wasn’t capable of murder and tried to stay hopeful about Kristen holding Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) captive.
It was better than the alternative of thinking Philip was dead.
Chloe teared up over being in limbo and felt guilty since she’d been confused about her feelings, which made things confusing for Philip, too.
Chloe mentioned Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) mistakenly believing she hooked up with Brady on the conference table and explained how she smoothed things over.
As Ava eavesdropped nearby, Chloe said at least she didn’t tell Kate that Nicole slept with Rafe specifically.
Ava seethed over the secret and snuck in Basic Black once the coast was clear. She got Duke the teddy bear out of Nicole’s desk and declared that his shared custody arrangement was officially over.
A humiliated Ava told Duke that Rafe and Nicole weren’t going to get away with this. She gleefully took a pair of scissors and cut Duke’s head off moments later.
Outside the pub, Rafe ran into Nicole and found out EJ had reunited with Sami.
Rafe thought Nicole deserved better and felt somewhat responsible for her pain, but Nicole owned up to making a mess of her love life. She joked about swearing off men in the new year and turned down Rafe’s New Year’s Eve invitation.
In the town square, Lucas felt unworthy of being a Horton as he looked at the plaque. He tried to explain to Tom Horton (Macdonald Carey) and Alice Horton (Frances Reid) that he did this for love.
Back at the bar, Gabi found Sami looking glum at the bar. Gabi wondered if Sami was OK, but Sami admitted she most definitely wasn’t.
Sami cried as Gabi prepared to offer sympathy for her problems.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Gabi will give Sami a solid pep talk soon enough, so stay tuned to DOOL.
