Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, July 1, reveals that Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) denied killing Dr. Clay Snyder (Michael Lowder) and sent Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) to Gwen Rizczech’s (Emily O’Brien) door. Ciara Brady Weston (Victoria Konefal) was also waiting on Ben Weston’s (Robert Scott Wilson) bed, so let’s talk about how it all went down on Thursday’s DOOL episode.
At Eli and Lani Price-Grant’s (Sal Stowers) place, Chanel Dupree (Precious Way) accidentally burned the cake for the anniversary party and set off the smoke alarm.
Eli came rushing out and inadvertently dropped his towel, which led to him being exposed in front of Chanel once again.
After Eli covered up and learned what had happened with the cake, he insisted Lani couldn’t know about this.
Lani walked in and wondered what they were keeping from her, so Chanel piped up that she saw Eli naked again.
Once Lani pointed out this was like the third time, she dropped a hint about Chanel finding somewhere else to live.
Chanel agreed she’d get her own place soon and that she could stay with her mom in the meantime. After Lani left the room, Chanel assured Eli that she’d bake a replacement cake at Paulina Price’s (Jackée Harry) place and headed out.
Lani returned and let Eli know she wasn’t going to spend their anniversary angry. She was over what happened with Chanel and promised she was fine with staying in for the evening.
Meanwhile, Paulina shared some lovey-dovey moments with Abe Carver (James Reynolds) at her apartment. She mentioned that she hadn’t been involved with anyone for a long time before she found Abe.
Once Abe stepped out of the room, Paulina called someone and insisted there’d been a change of plans. She wanted the demolition on the Horton Town Square to happen today and was willing to pay double since it was a holiday.
Paulina knew it was better to ask forgiveness than permission in this case and said to get the crew over there.
Chanel arrived in time to overhear something about the Horton Town Square and was curious, but Paulina covered.
Soon after on Thursday’s Days episode, Abe reappeared and left Chanel looking intrigued since he’d spent the night.
Once Abe was gone, Chanel admitted she was fine with Paulina dating him – though it was a little weird since Abe was her ex Theo Carver’s (Cameron Johnson) father. However, Chanel was supportive of her mother dating again.
Talk turned to Chanel’s deceased father and how he’d be proud of Chanel, so Chanel suggested he’d be proud of the work Paulina was doing with the Horton Town Square.
Chanel was so happy to be part of it and to have Paulina in her life. As Chanel hugged her mom, Paulina looked uncomfortable.
When Abe stopped by Lani’s apartment later, he mentioned Paulina confiding that she hadn’t been involved with anybody for a long time. Lani flashed back to Paulina telling her about the man in Miami she ended things with.
Abe could tell Lani had something on her mind, so Lani admitted she thought Paulina was hiding something.
At Ben’s apartment, he dreamed Ciara was on the bed waiting for him. Ciara had all her memories back and was ready to reunite with Ben, but his joy evaporated when he woke up startled.
Moments later, Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) showed up and insisted Ben was joining in the fun for the Fourth of July.
Elsewhere, Tripp told Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) that Dr. Snyder was a no-show at work. They flirted a bit before taking off to join Claire and Ben down by the lake.
While Allie and Claire went for a swim, Tripp and Ben talked about their love lives. Ben found out Tripp and Allie were a thing now, though they were taking things slow.
When Tripp asked about Ben and Claire, Ben insisted they were just friends. He told Tripp about burning the divorce papers and made it clear that he wasn’t giving up on his marriage.
Claire and Allie rushed over to exclaim over the dead body they found. When Tripp saw the corpse’s face, he realized it was his boss and told Eli after he arrived.
Eli started asking all kinds of questions, so Tripp assured the detective that he didn’t kill Dr. Snyder and had nothing to do with his death.
Even so, Eli suspected this wasn’t an accident. Although Tripp wasn’t a suspect, Eli wondered if there was anything the med student could tell him – like if Dr. Snyder had any issues or conflict at the hospital.
Tripp brought up the painkiller count discrepancy as well as Dr. Snyder’s tension with Gwen.
At the Horton house, Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) refused to tell Gwen what he did with Dr. Snyder’s body. He felt it was better if Gwen didn’t know.
Xander insisted Dr. Snyder’s death wasn’t murder and felt Gwen’s guilty conscience was more about what the doc was holding over her.
Xander pushed Gwen to spill the dirt, so Gwen eventually swore him to secrecy and launched the story of how she miscarried the baby before her staircase tumble.
Gwen admitted she wanted to hurt Abigail and make everyone believe her precious sister had killed her unborn child.
Although Gwen ultimately told Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) the truth about Abigail not pushing her, everyone still assumed the miscarriage happened because of the staircase fall.
Gwen knew it would ruin her relationship with Jack if he found out the truth.
Xander assured Gwen that he wouldn’t tell Jack. He didn’t like that Jack was being deceived, but he understood why Gwen did what she did.
Xander related to Gwen’s desire for a family and pointed out that he was never accepted, respected or loved by the other members of the Kiriakis clan.
He had no intention of messing things up for Gwen, who had a chance at happiness with her father.
After Gwen hugged Xander, she quickly pulled back and apologized. Gwen wasn’t sure what that was, but she stared at Xander intensely as he stared back.
They looked like they were going to kiss before Eli showed up at the door.
Eli flashed his badge and revealed that Dr. Snyder was dead, so Gwen said that was horrible and asked what that had to do with her.
Outside Ben’s apartment on Thursday’s Days episode, he invited Claire in to watch the hot dog eating contest on TV.
Claire chuckled over it sounding gross and said she had to get in touch with Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer), who presumably knew about the dead body since he’d been texting nonstop.
Ben thanked Claire for getting him out of the house, so Claire suggested that’s what friends are for and gave him a peck on the cheek.
When Ben opened the door of his apartment, he was stunned to see Ciara waiting for him on the bed – for real this time!
