Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, July 22, reveals that Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) had a getaway driver surprise for Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) – and Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker) exposed the cheating letter to a furious EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel).
At Nicole’s place, she guzzled wine and gazed at the framed photo Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) smashed. When Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) showed up, he convinced Nicole to let him in and offered the chance to pay Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) back in kind.
Since Sami blew up Nicole’s marriage, Philip was giving Nicole the opportunity to return the favor – “quid pro freaking’ pro.” He handed Nicole the letter that Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) wrote and argued this would be the detonating device.
Nicole read the letter and realized she had the cheating proof she needed, so she smiled a bit in satisfaction.
At the DiMera mansion on Thursday’s Days episode, Sami was surprised to see Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo). Lucas brought up the recent anniversary party and how he was choking on the hypocrisy here.
Lucas wondered what Sami would do if she threw a party and someone announced what they did at it.
Sami wanted to put her betrayal behind her, but hitting delete wasn’t that easy for Lucas. He admitted he almost told EJ everything, but he couldn’t go through with it.
Sami was grateful that Lucas was going to keep the secret and apologized for dragging him into her mess. Lucas wasn’t sorry since he loved Sami so much.
Sami appreciated what Lucas was doing, but she didn’t know when EJ would be back and didn’t want the two of them to cross paths.
Lucas got the hint and prepared to leave, but he assured Sami that he’d be there for her if and when things went wrong with EJ.
At Julie’s Place, Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson) got off a call with Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) and was bummed since there was a crisis at DiMera Enterprises. Chad had to fly to New York right away, so that left Theo without a best man.
Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) suggested Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) instead, but Eli called moments later and revealed he had to testify at a court case that’d been moved up. Lani finally said she could be the best woman, so Theo liked the sound of that.
Since Theo was too afraid of how Ciara might react to a postponed wedding, Abe Carver (James Reynolds) was concerned.
Abe thought Ciara sounded awfully fragile, but he resolved to keep his mouth shut as he discussed the matter privately with Lani.
At home, Ciara got updates on Belle Brady (Martha Madison) not being able to attend the wedding due to work drama.
Even so, Ciara refused to delay her nuptials. She snapped at Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) and Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) before realizing she was being pretty harsh.
After Ciara calmed down, she got a little emotional in front of the mirror. Allie was worried about her, but Ciara acted like she was just happy to move forward and wanted help zipping up her wedding dress.
At Ben’s apartment, he told Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) that if Ciara married Theo, those would be the vows she remembered. Ben feared he’d lose Ciara forever and felt getting Ciara to the cabin was the key to jogging her memory.
Since they were talking about a crime, Ben worried he shouldn’t even be telling Claire any of this. He didn’t want her to be charged with aiding and abetting.
“What if I want to aid and abet?” Claire asked. She insisted she loved both Ciara and Theo, so she pushed Ben to let her help stop this wedding – at least for Theo’s sake.
Ben realized he needed Allie’s help, so he called her and filled her in on his plan. Allie got on board and then lied to Ciara about having a problem related to Henry Horton’s (Jayna and Kinsley Fox) sitter.
Allie assured Ciara that she’d take care of it and would meet her at the church in a flash.
After Ben disconnected, he assured Claire that Allie was going to help them. Claire admitted she just thought of something else and pointed out that nobody would believe Ciara stood Theo up.
They needed to stall at the ceremony, so Claire suggested that no one would look for the bride if she was right in front of them.
At DiMera Enterprises, EJ and Belle worked on a multi-million time-sensitive deal. A client was having a last-minute attack of nerves about it, but EJ suspected it was just about squeezing more money out of them.
Chad was off buying them some time in New York, but EJ forgot about the wedding and was sorry Belle had to be at the office right now. Belle noted that she was on retainer and assured EJ it was fine.
Talk eventually turned to Sami being Xander’s co-conspirator in the anniversary blowup. “She’s the same conniving bitch she’s always been,” Belle said about her sister.
EJ defended Sami as someone who was looking out for her brother and felt she just wanted to make sure Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) learned the truth.
Belle finished things up in time to attend the wedding after all, but she posed a question to EJ before she left. She wondered how Sami would feel if someone did to her what Sami did to Nicole.
Once Belle was gone, Nicole showed up to see EJ in his office. EJ wasn’t interested in listening to Nicole whine about Sami, but she asked what his take was on the situation.
Nicole wondered if it was OK to expose other people’s sins, but EJ said it wasn’t Sami’s fault that Nicole’s paramour liked to brag about his conquests.
Nicole decided she was having more fun than she thought she would and stopped EJ from calling security on her. She admitted that EJ’s sister wrote him a letter, so EJ looked uneasy.
Nicole told EJ to “read it and weep,” so EJ quickly read Kristen’s words and looked like his blood was boiling.
EJ thought Nicole had accomplished what she came to do and wanted her to go. Nicole mentioned that at least EJ was finding out in the privacy of his own office and not being publicly humiliated.
Before Nicole sauntered out, she suggested that it had to hurt knowing it was Lucas who Sami slept with. Nicole guessed that EJ had underestimated Lucas’ assets.
Once EJ was alone, he hurled everything off his desk and shouted with rage. EJ also made a phone call and demanded a new phone number for Kristen. “I need it now, damn it!” EJ yelled.
Back with Nicole, she returned home and was happy over her accomplished mission. “Now let’s see how you like it,” Nicole said about Sami.
As for Philip, he suggested he had a confession to make when he met up with Lucas at the pub.
Meanwhile, Sami was surprised to see EJ home so early. EJ offered a fake smile and suggested he had the overwhelming urge to come home to his “loving, faithful wife.”
At home, Ciara looked at herself in the mirror again. “And she lived happily ever after,” Ciara said rather somberly.
After Ciara thought back to one of Ben’s heartfelt speeches, she told herself that Ben meant absolutely nothing to her – though it didn’t seem to be true.
Ben had donned a suit back in his apartment and took one last look at his framed wedding photo before leaving. At the wedding, Allie insisted that Ciara was waiting for Shawn to walk her down the aisle.
Shawn walked the heavily veiled bride over to Theo, who lifted the veil and was stunned to see Claire underneath.
“Surprise,” Claire said nervously as the guests looked on in shock.
Back with Ciara, she was in the back of a car headed to her wedding – or so she thought! Ciara told the driver that he just missed the turn and explained this wasn’t the way to the church.
Days fans soon saw it was Ben in the driver’s seat. He revealed that they weren’t going to the church and flashed a grin. “Happy anniversary, Ciara,” Ben said to wrap up Thursday’s DOOL episode.
