Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Thursday, July 8 Recap – EJ Tells Jake to Shoot Him – Nicole Steals Brady’s Phone

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, July 8, reveals that EJ DiMera (Dan Feurreigel) told Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) to shoot him – and Sami Brady DiMera’s (Alison Sweeney) fire plan was derailed. Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker) also stole Brady Black’s (Eric Martsolf) phone, so here’s the scoop on all Thursday’s drama.

At Rafe Hernandez’s (Galen Gering) place, Jake convinced Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) to open the letter addressed to EJ since it could be useful.

They were stunned to find out it was from Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk), who wrote all about learning Sami slept with Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo).

Jake thought this would be a great way to get back at EJ, but Gabi insisted Sami was her friend as well as Arianna Horton’s (Sydney Brower) grandmother. She didn’t want to ruin Sami’s marriage and begged Jake not to use the letter to his advantage.

Jake crumpled the letter up and threw it in the waste basket since it meant that much to Gabi.

However, Jake had a mischievous look in his eyes when Gabi stepped out of the room to take a call from Arianne at camp.

When Gabi returned, Jake was gone and the crumpled letter had been taken out of the garbage. Gabi got a determined look on her face and rushed off to the DiMera mansion.

Outside the Brady pub on Thursday’s DOOL episode, Lucas lied to Nicole about how he was still in love with Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) and had been pining for her.

Lucas tried to use that as his inoperable brain tumor excuse, but Nicole didn’t buy that Sami would work so hard to help Lucas with just his love life.

Nicole was convinced that Lucas had been involved with Sami instead – and that Kristen had been blackmailing them.

Lucas finally shut Nicole down and insisted she had no proof, but Nicole fired back that she’d get some.

At the Salem PD, Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) wanted updates on Rafe’s dinner with Nicole and Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun). Rafe admitted it was a disaster because of Duke the talking teddy bear and blamed Eli for asking all those questions beforehand.

Eli realized the bear was like Rafe’s subconscious and laughed about Rafe strangling the stuffed animal before he covered in front of the ladies.

Rafe also admitted Ava later asked about his feelings for Nicole. Days showed a flashback of a previously cut scene, which had Nicole standing by Ava and Rafe’s table at the pub.

Ava wanted to know if Rafe thought of Nicole as more than a friend, but he insisted he wouldn’t string Ava along and that he didn’t chase after married women. Nicole agreed that they were just friends in this flashback.

Back in the present, Rafe insisted that Nicole was married and that he had to forget his feelings for her. Suddenly, Ava appeared and wondered when Rafe was going to tell her.

Rafe eventually realized this was about Gabi and Jake becoming their new housemates.

Ava was concerned about Rafe being caught between two women he loved since Gabi didn’t approve of their relationship. She was afraid things with Rafe were too good to be true and that something would happen to yank this all away, but Rafe offered reassurance and embraced her.

At Basic Black, Brady kissed Chloe passionately before Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) came in and warned Brady away. Brady insisted he was going to be with Chloe, but Chloe admitted she’d already promised to give Philip a real chance.

After a humiliated Brady left, Philip wondered if anything that changed for Chloe – if she actually wanted to be with Brady. Chloe assured Philip that she appreciated his patience and that this wasn’t about what Brady felt or wanted.

Chloe kissed Philip, but she later found herself looking longingly at a photo of Brady on the desk.

Nicole found Brady outside the pub and learned he’d made an absolute fool of himself with Chloe. Brady admitted he was egotistical to think Chloe would just fall into his arms.

Brady told Nicole that he kissed another man’s woman since Chloe was dating Philip now.

Nicole thought there was still hope for Brady since Philip didn’t have a great dating history. However, Brady understood why Chloe lost interest and blamed himself for letting her slip away.

Nicole then fished for information about Kristen’s phone call and wondered if she said anything about anyone else, which confused Brady. Nicole brushed past it and assured Brady that he could always talk to her about anything.

Nicole gave him a phone and managed to steal his phone, so she looked at it after Brady walked away. Nicole told herself just needed to find a techie to trace Kristen’s call.

After Sami discouraged EJ from looking for Kristen’s letter, things turned passionate between them. They were about to head to the bedroom when Lucas called, so Sami stepped outside and found out Nicole had confronted him about Kristen’s blackmail.

Sami felt they had bigger problems due to this letter situation and ultimately hung up on Lucas.

Jake showed up at the DiMera mansion and insisted he was there to take EJ down. EJ sarcastically claimed he was quaking in his boots and wondered what the big plan was.

Jake said he had something for EJ right there and put his hand in his coat pocket.

EJ assumed Jake was “packing heat” and invited Jake to just shoot him then. “What are you waiting for?” EJ asked.

Jake thought back to Gabi pushing him not to show EJ the letter and backed down. He said he loved his life with Gabi and that he wouldn’t throw it away by trying to get back at EJ.

Gabi rushed in and planned to stop Jake, but EJ revealed that Jake had already lost his nerve on whatever he was planning.

Jake gave Gabi the letter once they were alone, so she found Sami and explained how she wound up with this evidence.

Sami admitted it was true and started crying about how she couldn’t lose EJ, so Gabi assured Sami that she wouldn’t. When Sami realized Gabi really wasn’t going to say anything, she was touched.

Sami still worried about what vengeful Jake would do, but Gabi promised she could deal with her boyfriend.

On Thursday’s Days episode, Gabi returned home and ranted about Jake nearly blowing up Sami’s marriage. She didn’t know if she could trust Jake now, but Jake argued that he loved Gabi more than he hated EJ.

Gabi sarcastically replied that was great to hear, so Jake supposed he could find a more romantic way to express himself.

Jake told Gabi that he loved her and that there was nothing on this planet more important to him. Gabi said that was better and kissed Jake passionately. As for Sami, she was ready to destroy the letter by setting it on fire.

Sami threw the letter in the fireplace and went on the hunt for something to start the blaze, but EJ reappeared and wondered what she was doing with matches.
