Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, June 24, reveals that EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) threat upset Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) while Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) blackmailed Kate Roberts DiMera (Lauren Koslow). Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) and Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) also prepared for war, so let’s talk about how all the DOOL drama went down.
At the DiMera mansion on Thursday’s Days episode, Gabi dropped by Jake’s room to bring Kate some tea. Kate wondered if there were cookies too and suggested Gabi had perhaps found her niche in life as a home care attendant.
Gabi noted that she really wanted to have a little talk – woman to woman. Despite Kate’s insistence that Gabi’s pursuit of Jake was futile, Gabi argued that it was obvious Jake loved her, not Kate. She explained that Jake simply felt obligated to stay with Kate and that he pitied her.
Since Kate was being so insufferable, Gabi argued that she would do a happy dance when Jake dumped her – though she pointed out Kate wouldn’t be able to see it.
Kate offered a word of advice about not letting this situation make Gabi bitter, but Gabi offered advice of her own and warned Kate not to get too comfortable in Jake’s bed.
After EJ was certain of Chad and Tony DiMera’s (Thaao Penghlis) support for the ouster, he paid Jake a visit in his office. Jake thought maybe EJ had been avoiding him, but EJ insisted he’d been wanting to meet his newest brother.
EJ added that this was a courtesy call to say he was back and that he wanted Jake out.
Later, Gabi showed up and got updates on EJ plotting to have Jake fired. She wheeled out a nearby whiteboard so they could figure out how many votes Jake would have at the board meeting.
Gabi considered who would vote for Jake, who would vote him out, and who would be an unknown.
Across town, Chad opened up to Tony about Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) disinterest in what happened at DiMera Enterprses. Abigail told Chad to do whatever he wanted and said she didn’t want to see him when he offered to bring the kids to Boston.
Chad couldn’t sit around and wonder when Abigail would come home, so he opted to focus on getting Jake out of the company before he ruined it.
While Gabi tallied up votes in Jake’s office, Tony and Chad did the same using chess pieces. Soon after, Gabi and Tony started making calls to secure some of the voters they felt would be on the fence.
Since Kate could end up being the deciding vote, Jake thought it was good that she was head over heels in love with him – though Gabi objected to him putting it that way.
Jake found out that Gabi just had a run-in with Kate and grumbled about what her mood would be like when he went to beg for her vote. As for Chad, he stopped by Kate’s room and hoped he could count on her vote for the ouster.
Kate refused to vote with Chad since she wanted to keep her scheme against Jake going.
Chad argued that Kate should grow up and felt like she’d had enough fun. He asked if Kate would at least abstain, but Kate insisted she had to stand by her man and eventually be the one who grinds Jake into dust.
Since Chad couldn’t change Kate’s mind, he threatened to tell Jake the truth. A shocked Kate asked if Chad was blackmailing her, so Chad explained that he wouldn’t say anything if she voted against Jake.
Chad thought Kate could take a little vacation after that and be miraculously cured. Otherwise, Chad would blow all this up and leave Kate looking like a kooky, desperate and pathetic old woman.
Chad didn’t think anyone would believe Kate’s story about doing this for revenge if it came out like this. He left the choice up to Kate and headed back downstairs.
At the pub on Thursday’s Days episode, Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) quizzed Sami about the tension with Lucas. Sami claimed they’d gotten closer during their time in the DiMera secret room, but that EJ was back and had to be her priority.
Roman thought it sounded like EJ was an obligation and didn’t think Lucas liked going back to how things were before.
However, Sami shut down the interrogation and assured Roman that she wasn’t uncomfortable around Lucas.
In the town square, Lucas stunned Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) with the news that EJ was back in town. He added that EJ was the same swine he’s always been and mocked his accent.
Luca ranted about EJ treating Sami like a piece of luggage and trying to whisk her back to Italy before changing his mind. He informed Rafe that EJ now intended to rebuild his marriage at the DiMera mansion.
When EJ came along, he told Rafe and Lucas not to worry about hurting his feelings. EJ assured them that the hatred was completely mutual. That said, he hoped they could have a détente where they agreed not to provoke one another.
EJ wanted Lucas in particular to respect his marriage and accept that his relationship with Sami would be a very limited one.
Lucas scoffed about EJ being naïve before Sami rushed over and asked “what the hell” was going on here. Sami managed to drag EJ back to the DiMera mansion, where she voiced her disapproval about him antagonizing Rafe and Lucas.
EJ argued that he was only trying to make things easier for Sami, but she thought it’d be easier if EJ just stayed away from her exes. EJ suggested that was fine as long as they stayed away from Sami and vice versa.
Sami didn’t like the sound of that and decided to freshen up while EJ thought about if it was really a good idea to threaten her. EJ apologized if it sounded like a threat and explained that he just wanted their fresh start to work out.
EJ didn’t want the past screwing up their future, so Sami settled down and shrugged that EJ wouldn’t be EJ if he wasn’t a bit bossy.
When Chad reconvened with EJ on Thursday’s Days episode, they discussed that the vote would be close and could go either way. Chad suggested they could wait, but EJ felt it was now or never. He then called Mr. Shin to put the board meeting in motion.
