Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Thursday, May 27 Recap – Ava Allows Kristen’s Escape – Brady Stunned Over Nicole’s New Hire

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, May 27, reveals that Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) allowed Kristen DiMera’s (Stacy Haiduk) escape and lied to Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering). Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) was also stunned over Nicole Brady’s (Arianne Zucker) new hire, so here’s how it all played out on Thursday’s exciting show.

At Statesville, Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) apologized to Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) for helping Kristen and insisted she did it all for Marlena and John Black (Drake Hogestyn).

Marlena thought Susan led with her heart and that’s why she persuaded the warden to let Susan go free. She was able to explain that Kristen took advantage of Susan’s trusting and childlike nature.

After Marlena offered a change of clothes, she suggested Susan could come home with her. Once Susan arrived at the townhouse, she let Brady know she was so sorry for helping Kristen. Brady didn’t blame Susan and assured her there was nothing to forgive.

Susan was eager to dye her hair back to normal and dashed off while Marlena made her some tea. When the tea was ready, Marlena realized Susan wasn’t in her room and her box of hair dye was unused. She wondered where Susan could’ve gone.

At the Salem PD, Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) chewed Kristen out over what happened to Kate Roberts DiMera (Lauren Koslow) and Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin). ‘What the hell is wrong with you?!” Chad shouted.

Chad learned Brady dumped Kristen and didn’t think she should be surprised.

Kristen insisted they were still family and pushed Chad to help as her brother. She brought up their father, Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo), and how he would feel about it.

Kristen insisted that she needed Chad’s help since he was the only one with the money and means to set her up with a new life.

Chad loved his sister, but he refused to help Kristen escape. He pushed Kristen to find a purpose in prison instead and perhaps reconnect with her faith. Chad promised to look out for Rachel Black (Josephine and Rosalind May) and tell her about her mom.

After Kristen wrote a letter for Rachel, Chad delivered it to Brady and thought he should know about Kristen asking him for escape help.

Back at the police station on Thursday’s DOOL episode, Susan showed up in the interrogation room. She was upset over Kristen hurting people, but she offered forgiveness and agreed to be friends at Kristen’s request.

Kristen wanted a hug, but then she gripped Susan’s neck just right and caused her to lose consciousness.

Once Susan was out cold on the floor, Kristen said she was sorry about that. She added that there was no way she was going back to prison.

At the hospital, Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) told Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) that Kate’s latest scans were back. The swelling on Kate’s brain had receded, so they were going to start taking her out of her coma.

Kayla pointed out that Kate could be perfectly fine – or she could have brain damage. They wouldn’t know for sure until Kate woke up.

Jake revealed that he was no longer a couple with Kate, but he still cared about her and wanted to stay by her side. He seemed distraught as he sat by Kate’s beside.

Meanwhile, Gabi stopped by Rafe’s place and found Ava instead of her brother. As they clashed, Ava wound up revealing that she was dating Rafe.

Gabi felt like it was only a matter of time until Rafe got tired of the cannoli and moved on! She also slipped in the conversation that she was back together with Jake and insisted they were madly in love.

After Gabi joined Jake at the hospital, she worried since Jake hadn’t been able to explain to Kate that he’d never stopped loving Gabi. Jake admitted he probably wouldn’t tell Kate immediately after she woke up, but he assured Gabi that he’d tell Kate once she was ready.

When Jake moved in close to kiss Gabi, Kate started to stir. She called Jake’s name and frantically shouted about how she couldn’t see anything. Gabi piped up that she’d go get help, so Kate wasn’t pleased over her being there at the hospital.

Jake pointed out that Kate’s blindness might be temporary, but she insisted he couldn’t know that for sure.

Kate claimed that the last thing she remembered was packing for their trip together. She suggested she was looking forward to getting their relationship back on track, but she guessed this changed everything.

“Yeah…yeah, it does,” Jake said as he cradled Kate’s head and looked uneasy.

Back with Gabi on Thursday’s Days episode, she saw Chad near the waiting area and offered updates on Kate coming out of her coma. Chad thought it was a good sign and felt Kate would be OK, but Gabi wasn’t so sure.

In Xander Kiriakis’ (Paul Telfer) hotel room, Rafe wondered what was going on between Nicole and Xander. Nicole said Xander had summoned her to discuss a proposition and explained that she was considering hiring him.

Rafe was in a state of disbelief and struggled to understand why Nicole would do that.

Nicole offered a flimsy explanation, but Rafe still felt there was no way Brady would agree to this. He wondered if Nicole would change her mind about hiring Xander if she knew he tried to kill Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) and Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo).

Xander felt that Sami was just a drama queen and insisted that Nicole could talk Brady into this. He sent her off to do that while Rafe asked questions about what happened with Sami and Lucas.

Xander denied any wrongdoing, but Rafe wondered how Lucas and Sami wound up with Xander’s gun then.

Xander claimed his gun was stolen, but Rafe intended to hang onto it since it could be evidence in an attempted murder investigation. He invited Rafe to look in his bank account and see that it was all zeros – meaning no payment for hired hits.

As Rafe exited on Thursday’s Days episode, he advised Xander to stay away from Nicole. Xander thought Rafe should relax since he wasn’t trying to seduce her or anything. “As if you could!” Rafe said with a scoff.

When Ava showed up at the Salem PD, she saw that Susan was unconscious and tried to put a stop to Kristen’s escape plan. Kristen argued that Ava would be dead if she hadn’t had Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (William Utay) bring Ava back to life.

Although Kristen felt that Ava owed her, Ava insisted Rafe would never forgive her. Kristen pushed Ava to just shut her mouth and step aside. Moments later, Kristen adjusted the Susan disguise she was wearing and prepared to move forward with her scheme.

After Rafe arrived, Ava claimed she just walked in and found Susan on the floor like this. As Susan regained consciousness, Rafe realized that Kristen had escaped.

In the park, Kristen wished she could say goodbye to Rachel. However, Kristen insisted this wouldn’t be forever – that Brady would forgive her like he always does. “You haven’t seen the last of me, Salem,” Kristen said.

Once Nicole found Brady at the townhouse, she got Xander’s text pressuring her to get Brady on board with his new job. Nicole let Brady know she could use some help and suggested Xander as a possible hire.

Brady laughed until he realized Nicole was actually serious about this. “You’re out of your damn mind,” Brady insisted.
