Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, September 16, reveals that Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) needed an MRI after grabbing Paulina Price’s (Jackée Harry) behind. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) also learned the truth about Lani Price’s (Sal Stowers) mom as well as her father, so here’s how everything played out on Thursday’s drama-filled DOOL episode.
At the DiMera mansion, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) got Will Horton (Chandler Massey) on a video call and made small talk before asking about the Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) story script.
Will hadn’t thought about that in years, but he was sure he had it around there somewhere.
Since Johnny was starting his filmmaking career, Will agreed to send the script and admired Johnny for going after his dream.
Talk turned to Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) and her business partner starting a bakery, so Johnny got a little uncomfortable as he suggested it was an interesting partnership.
Johnny also asked if Will ever got the feeling that Allie played for his team, but Will wondered why Johnny would think that. In the end, Johnny wrapped up the call and looked forward to finding out what secrets would be unearthed in that Sami script.
After Paulina picked up some sweet treats from the bakery, she told Abe Carver (James Reynolds) she had an errand to run and rushed off.
Paulina wound up in Marlena’s office with something weighing on her. She worried it’d be unforgivable if she told Abe, but Marlena wasn’t so sure about that.
Marlena pointed out that doctor-patient confidentiality meant she could be sued if she spilled the secret and encouraged Paulina to speak freely.
Paulina eventually confessed that Abe wasn’t Lani’s father, which confused Marlena since Tamara Price (Marilyn McCoo) acted like Abe was.
Paulina explained that having Abe be the father was far better than the truth and then confessed there were actually two secrets since she was Lani’s mother, not Tamara.
After Paulina explained the abusive boyfriend situation, she pointed out that Olivia Price (Marla Gibbs) insisted on Tamara raising Lani.
Paulina went along with that plan since she was genuinely fearful of Lani’s bio dad and had tried to keep her distance since that was part of her deal with Tamara.
However, Paulina ultimately came to Salem and grew closer to Lani. She admitted to almost telling Lani the truth recently, but she knew Lani and Abe would never forgive her if she blew up their lives with this revelation.
Marlena argued that sometimes even secrets that seem unforgivable can be forgiven. She offered to help facilitate a confession conversation if Paulina ever decided to come clean.
Paulina was adamant about keeping this between them, so Marlena assured her the secret was safe – though she got Paulina to agree to more therapy sessions.
Paulina felt better just getting the secret off her chest and gave Marlena a hug before she left.
In a hospital room, Doug underwent some cognitive tests, but Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) felt like Doug seemed fine once they were completed.
Kayla suggested that Doug was free to go and could get in touch again if there were any other incidents.
Doug and Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) ran into Paulina by the elevator, where they discussed the bakery opening and Alice Horton’s (Francis Reid) doughnut recipe.
Suddenly, Paulina looked at Doug in horror. “Doug Williams, did you just grab my ass?!” Paulina exclaimed.
Julie apologized for Doug and insisted he’d never done anything like this before. Paulina nervously chuckled as she said it was sort of a compliment and dashed off to meet Abe and Lani.
As for Julie, she approached Kayla again to explain that they needed to run that MRI after all since Doug had grabbed Paulina’s behind!
In the town square on Thursday’s Days episode, Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) looked over the numbers from the bakery’s first day and saw that they’d made a big profit.
Chanel embraced Allie enthusiastically right as an uneasy Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) appeared nearby.
Tripp joined the ladies and insisted on buying them Champagne to celebrate their success. Johnny eventually showed up with flowers for Chanel and called out Allie for trying to interfere in his romance like a psychopath.
Allie now knew Chanel didn’t need her protection and understood she needed to stay out of her brother’s love life.
Johnny joined Tripp, Allie and Chanel at their table since Chanel was eager to celebrate an exciting, promising new beginning.
After toasting to Sweet Bits’ success, Johnny brought everyone up to speed on getting the Sami Brady story script.
Allie thought this project sounded way too personal, but Johnny felt it would be a great film.
Johnny also suggested Allie should play Sami in the movie, but Allie argued that she was a baker and a single mom – not an actress.
Nevertheless, Johnny urged his sis to think about it and promised he could make her a star!
At the pub on Thursday’s Days episode, Abe mentioned that Paulina had referred to herself as the twins’ grandma, so Lani was baffled.
Abe explained that he thought it was an aspirational thing since he might marry Paulina down the road – and that’d give her grandma status.
When Abe asked how Lani would feel if Paulina became her mother, Lani clarified that Paulina would never take the place of Tamara.
Lani said Paulina would be her stepmother, but Abe still felt that’d be different than Paulina being Lani’s aunt.
Lani assured Abe that he had her blessing and wondered when he’d be popping the question.
Abe hadn’t given that much thought, but Lani suggested Paulina would want the flashiest engagement ring possible.
Paulina approached their table during that conversation, but Abe acted like they were just talking about the twins.
Once Paulina sat down, she admitted she needed to be with her family tonight. Abe toasted to family then, but Paulina seemed a bit apprehensive.
