Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, December 21, teases that Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) revealed he married Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) in Rome while Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) confessed to being Sami Brady DiMera’s (Alison Sweeney) captor. Here’s how all the DOOL action went down.
After Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) broke a snow globe, he viewed it as yet another example of how he was a constant screwup.
Kate once again promised to fix everything for Philip, but she had to tell Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) he was alive to make that happen.
Kate warned Philip to stay put and reminded him not to open the door to anyone.
However, Philip quickly broke that promise when Lucas showed up outside Kate’s door. Lucas pointed out that he was hurting too since Philip was his brother.
Luke knew their relationship wasn’t perfect, but he loved Philip and hated the thought of never seeing him again.
Philip was touched by Lucas’ words, so he opened the door and revealed he was alive.
Lucas was shocked over Philip’s murder setup, but he cut his brother some slack and vowed to keep his survival a secret.
Philip talked about Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) and how he’d blown his chance with her.
Philip still thought Lucas had a shot with Sami since he didn’t do anything crazy, but Lucas ultimately admitted he’d indeed done something – perhaps something worse than he’d ever done before.
Lucas confessed to being the one who kidnapped Sami, so that left Philip stunned.
Meanwhile, Kate headed over to the Kiriakis mansion to fill Victor in on Philip being alive. She insisted Philip wasn’t in his right mind when he framed Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and thought their son needed genuine help.
Kate insisted Philip was too fragile for the stress of a trial or a prison sentence. She said they needed to make Philip disappear so he could get the help he needed, but Victor couldn’t let Brady get locked up for a murder he didn’t commit.
Kate decided they’d just have to fix this so it’d work out for both Brady and Philip.
Next on Tuesday’s Days episode, Sami met up with Belle Brady (Martha Madison) to seek updates on Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall).
They also addressed Philip’s disappearance and Brady’s arrest briefly, but Sami shifted gears since she wanted to hire Belle to save her marriage.
Belle couldn’t believe Sami was thinking of herself at a time like this, but Sami argued that this wasn’t some trivial matter. She begged Belle to be her lawyer, but Belle refused to take a case she knew she couldn’t win.
At the DiMera mansion, Johnny wondered what he missed while he was in Italy with Chanel. EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) explained the details of Marlena’s possession and revealed that Sami had been rescued after being kidnapped.
Johnny called Sami and got her to come right over, so EJ said this would give him an opportunity to serve her with new divorce papers. Johnny didn’t seem to buy the idea that EJ had truly moved on with Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker), but he let it go for now.
At home, Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) wasn’t impressed over the flowers Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) sent or the heartfelt card she wrote. She wanted Paulina to leave her alone, but Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) felt Lani had to face Paulina for her own sake.
At Paulina’s place, she caught up with Chanel following her trip. Paulina admitted Abe Carver (James Reynolds) still loved her, but he didn’t know if he could ever trust her again.
Chanel felt guilty for her part in the wedding blowup, but Paulina said the devil made her do it and delivered the Marlena possession shocker.
When Lani arrived, she shared a sweet moment with Chanel as they put the drama behind them. Unfortunately, Lani wasn’t willing to do the same with Paulina.
Lani told Paulina she would take the flowers to the hospital tomorrow and give them to someone who actually wanted them.
Lani also ripped up the card Paulina sent and warned her not to send any more gifts to give away or throw in the trash.
Paulina tried to wish Lani a merry Christmas and urged her to wish the twins a happy birthday, but Lani ignored her as she stormed out.
Although Paulina was upset, she agreed to join Chanel for lunch at the DiMera mansion as a distraction. Chanel seemed excited to spill something at one point, but she didn’t reveal what.
When Sami arrived at the DiMera manse on Tuesday’s Days episode, she embraced her son.
Johnny was sorry for not suspecting something was wrong after that dropped call back in September, but Sami was just glad to have her family back together.
After Johnny confirmed Chanel was coming and got Sami to agree she’d stick around, he stepped out of the room.
That gave Sami a moment alone with EJ. She pushed him to stop denying what they both felt, but Johnny returned with Paulina and Chanel soon after.
Since everyone was gathered around, Johnny thought this was a good time to share their big news.
With Chanel beaming by his side, Johnny announced that they got married in Rome and planted a hot kiss on his new wife.
After Kate summoned Belle to the Kiriakis mansion, she explained that there’d be no bail hearing for Brady.
Belle was stunned to learn Kate and Victor were willing to revoke the legal document they signed to have Philip declared legally dead, which meant the charges would be dropped.
Belle also mentioned the security footage from the pub getting erased and revealed she suspected Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) of setting Brady up.
“That totally makes sense,” Kate insisted. Belle was more hopeful than ever that Philip was still alive somewhere.
After the document was signed and Belle took off, Kate assured Victor that they did the right thing. She was determined to make sure Philip got the help he needed.
