Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Tuesday, June 22, reveals that Dr. Clay Snyder had a fatal heart attack and left Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) panicking. Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) also exposed Dr. Snyder’s stolen drug operation to Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans), so let’s discuss how it all played out.
At Basic Black on Tuesday’s Days episode, Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) and Nicole Brady (Arianne Zucker) realized Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) was standing in the doorway after Xander had been talking about the hot night they shared.
Brady said he’d been standing there long enough to know they made a big mistake – though he thought he was the one who really made one by agreeing to hire “this ape.”
Talk turned to Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) before Xander suggested firing her since Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) would be trying to lure her over to his side.
Brady thought he should fire Xander instead, but Xander didn’t think Nicole would like that outcome too much. After Brady sent Xander home for the rest of the day, he confronted Nicole about sleeping with Xander.
Nicole admitted it and told the whole ugly drunken story. She talked about her struggles without Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) and couldn’t say for sure why she slept with someone she despised.
Nicole admitted that Xander thought she’d always wanted to sleep with him deep down, so she burst into tears.
Brady insisted that wasn’t true and felt like Nicole was just being self-destructive. He also acknowledged that Nicole and Eric had gotten past a lot in their relationship, but Nicole didn’t think they could get past this.
Nicole hated to put Brady on the spot, but she wanted to know what he was going to do about this secret. Brady assured Nicole that he wouldn’t tell Eric since he’d already ripped her relationship up once and would never do it again.
Nicole thanked Brady for being a wonderful friend, but he felt he should’ve been there for Nicole before now. Nicole didn’t hold it against Brady since he had so much on his plate.
Brady thought the important thing now was to neutralize Xander so that he didn’t have any power over Nicole. With Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) out of the picture, Brady felt like the old Xander was back.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Philip gave Chloe a massage and then made a pitch to convince her to come work at Titan.
Although Chloe thought it’d probably be a good move career-wise, she didn’t want to leave Basic Black after they’d given her the opportunity – plus, trouble tends to follow Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) everywhere.
Chloe argued that Gabi always wanted what she couldn’t have, so Philip thought that was something Chloe had in common with her. He suggested that Chloe wanted Brady even though his heart belonged to Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk).
Chloe stood her ground on remaining at Basic Black and as far as her relationship went, she insisted Parker Jonas (Christian Ganiere) was the only one who had her heart. As Chloe dashed off to for a video chat with Parker, Philip told himself that he could change that.
At the Horton house, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) overheard Gwen right after she hung up with Dr. Snyder. Gwen muttered about that insufferable man, so Jack questioned her about which man that was.
That led to Gwen lying about how she meant Xander since he was acting like such a disrespectful brute under the same roof. Jack understood that his friendship with Xander was strange, but he hoped Gwen could cut Xander some slack.
Gwen was surprised to learn Xander was dumped by a woman he was head over heels in love with on his wedding day.
Jack hoped Gwen could try to get along with Xander – and later, Jack offered Xander similar advice about getting along with Gwen. In the meantime, Tripp cornered Dr. Snyder at the hospital to ask him about the opioid counts not lining up.
Dr. Snyder explained away the discrepancy, but Tripp still felt the need to get a second opinion soon after.
In Kayla’s office, she talked to Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) about Tripp’s suspicions regarding Dr. Snyder and his threats against Gwen.
Kayla didn’t see anything out of the ordinary in Gwen’s chart, but she also knew Dr. Snyder offered a flimsy excuse about old-school notes – and the delay gave him a chance to make adjustments.
After Tripp arrived, Steve left to get a table at Julie’s Place and await Kayla’s arrival for lunch. Tripp offered updates on the pill discrepancy and Dr. Snyder’s explanation, so she thanked Tripp for the great catch.
Afterward, Kayla did a little more research and reconvened with Steve at the restaurant. She revealed that Dr. Snyder had been stealing a few pills a day for at least six months.
Kayla thought the first step now was proving the pills were missing – then figuring out how all this worked and if Dr. Snyder had an accomplice.
Steve wondered if this had anything to do with Gwen right as Jack appeared. Jack was immediately curious why Steve and Kayla were talking about his daughter.
Back at the Horton house, Dr. Snyder approached Gwen with another drug-filled envelope to deliver. He also wanted Gwen to tell Cousin Tripp to stop sticking his nose where it didn’t belong!
Gwen found out Dr. Snyder changed her chart to back up her lie, so she decided he had no more leverage. Exposing Gwen would mean exposing the medical chart changes – and Dr. Snyder would get fired.
Gwen wanted to just call it even and forget Dr. Snyder ever existed. She argued that Dr. Snyder could find someone else to do his dirty work, but Dr. Snyder grabbed Gwen’s arms and got menacing.
Gwen complained that Dr. Snyder was hurting her, but he fired back that he could hurt Gwen in ways she couldn’t even imagine.
When Xander walked in on Tuesday’s DOOL show, he insisted he was just about to say the same thing to Dr. Snyder.
Gwen said she had everything under control, so Dr. Snyder pushed Xander to listen to her. He warned that he could ruin Gwen’s life just by opening his mouth.
“Not if I slit your throat,” Xander said after picking up a letter opener. He indeed held it against Dr. Snyder’s throat and talked about how he had no reason to be a good person anymore.
Gwen piped up to disagree and argued that they both had to be better for Jack. She begged Xander to listen and let Dr. Snyder go, so he finally released the devious doc.
On Tuesday’s Days episode, Dr. Snyder stumbled back on the sofa in visible distress and seemingly had a heart attack. After Gwen checked his pulse, she realized Dr. Snyder was dead and wondered what they were going to do.
