Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Wednesday, August 18 Recap – EJ Rejects Johnny’s Movie Career – Chanel Meets ‘Giovanni’

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 18, reveals that EJ DiMera (Dan Feurriegel) rejected Johnny DiMera’s (Carson Boatman) movie career – and Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens) met “Giovanni.” John Black (Drake Hogestyn) also made some scary accusations, so here’s how it all played out on Wednesday’s Days episode.

At the townhouse, John got off the phone with Belle Black (Martha Madison) and told Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) that he had good news and bad news.

The good news involved Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) and Allie Horton’s (Lindsay Arnold) charges being dropped as well as Ciara Brady’s (Victoria Konefal) memory coming back.

As for the bad news, John admitted that EJ found out Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) cheated with Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) and ended the marriage. Marlena hated to hear that Sami’s affair blew up and got her thrown out of the house.

At the DiMera mansion, Johnny emerged from the tunnels since the door was locked and he never passed up a chance to go down there anyway. He asked about Sami and soon learned that she’d cheated on EJ with Lucas.

Johnny eventually brought up the fact that he was looking for investors and giving EJ the first crack at it. He explained that he was making a movie and had already made a few shorts on his phone.

Johnny knew he was still a novice, but he really thought he had something to contribute and pushed EJ to invest in his son’s future.

EJ urged Johnny to come work at DiMera Enterprises instead since it was his legacy, but Johnny refused to “suit up” and didn’t want that kind of career. This caused a fight since EJ felt Johnny was just fooling around on his phone.

When EJ refused to hand over money for something so frivolous, Johnny said he’d just go to Sami instead. EJ wished his son good luck finding Sami as Johnny stormed out.

At the hospital, Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) was relieved to see Allie now that she was out of police custody. Chanel walked in as Allie and Tripp were kissing, so she didn’t look thrilled about that.

After Chanel suggested the three of them should go out to dinner, she mentioned she had some documents for Allie to sign regarding the bakery.

Allie passed on dinner since she wanted to relay her concerns about Sami to John and Marlena. She signed the documents on the spot instead.

Allie got Tripp to go with her, so Chanel looked bummed and ultimately headed to the bar of Julie’s Place alone.

Chanel flashed back to kissing Allie during the fireworks and then told herself to let it go already.

At the townhouse again, Marlena and John gushed over Henry Horton (Jayna and Kinsley Fox) before Allie brought up her concerns about Sami.

John worried that maybe EJ wasn’t telling the truth, so Allie feared he was suggesting that EJ might’ve hurt Sami.

After John left on Wednesday’s Days episode, Marlena did her best to reassure Allie and then went to settle Henry down.

Tripp backed Marlena up on the idea that maybe Sami just needed to recharge and thought Allie should stay positive.

Talk turned to Chanel’s disappointment over the missed dinner and Allie’s frustration that things weren’t going back to how they were before.

Tripp suggested Allie and Chanel would get their friendship back on track eventually. He also expressed hope that Chanel would meet someone new and that’d help with getting over Allie.

At Julie’s Place, Johnny was agitated as he asked who had to sleep with to get a drink around there. “Don’t look at me,” Chanel said – and Johnny immediately seemed intrigued by her.

They flirted a bit and bonded over their money issues with their parents.

Johnny wanted to buy Chanel a drink and was embarrassed when his card was declined. Chanel picked up the check instead and revealed her name.

Johnny said he was named after his grandfather, John, but that his other grandfather used to call him Giovanni.

After Johnny put his number in Chanel’s phone so she wouldn’t forget, she felt it wouldn’t be easy to forget a Giovanni. Johnny smiled and said he was counting on that.

Back at the DiMera mansion, John showed up to ask EJ about Sami. EJ suggested that maybe Sami decided it’d be awkward or even unbearable to stick around.

John didn’t understand why Sami wouldn’t at least be in touch with her mother or daughter. He didn’t think it was very Sami-like for her to give up without a fight.

“So, Elvis John, are you sure you don’t know where Sami could be right now?” John asked. EJ wondered what exactly John was insinuating. He asked if John thought he killed Sami and buried her corpse in the tunnels.

EJ was fed up with John’s concerns and insinuations, so he told him to “get the hell out” and smashed his glass against the wall after John exited.

When John returned to the townhouse, he admitted it was hard to read EJ. Allie and Marlena eventually got a text that was supposedly from Sami, which talked about needing to figure things out alone and urged them not to worry if they didn’t hear from her for a while.

John guessed that solved it – and Marlena said at least they knew Sami was safe. Allie, however, didn’t seem all that convinced or relieved.

As for EJ on Wednesday’s Days episode, he put his phone back in his pocket and said that was settled. EJ turned to Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) portrait and asked what they were going to do about Giovanni.

At Paulina Price’s (Jackee Harry) place, she was on the verge of confessing when Olivia Price (Marla Gibbs) pushed Lani Price-Grant (Sal Stowers) to get her some more tea and something to nibble on.

While Lani was out of the room, Olivia warned Paulina not to take away the only mother Lani had ever known just to make herself feel better.

When Lani returned, Paulina suggested she just wanted to promise that she’d never lie to her again. If Paulina did, she said may God strike her mama dead.

“We don’t want anything to happen to ‘Big Mama,’ now do we?” Lani insisted on Wednesday’s DOOL episode. Olivia agreed Paulina was being a bit dramatic and did her best to hustle Lani out the door.

Lani admitted that Abe Carver (James Reynolds) filled her in on abusive Ray and how it affected Paulina’s view of money. Paulina acknowledged she’d been forced to make difficult choices, but Olivia piped up that it was all in the past and convinced Lani to leave since “Big Mama” needed her rest.

As for how long Olivia was staying, she said it depended on how long she had to keep her eye on Paulina. At home, Abe was glad to hear that Lani was off trying to make amends.

Eli Grant (Lamon Archey) felt like once Lani forgave her aunt, then Abe could reconcile with Paulina.

After Lani headed back to her apartment, she offered updates to Eli and Abe about her grandmother’s visit. Lani acknowledged how much family meant to her and hoped to set a good example for her babies by forgiving Paulina.

Abe expressed his love for Lani as he pulled her into a warm embrace.

Back with Olivia, she pushed Paulina to consider how Lani would feel if she found out Abe wasn’t her true father.

Olivia didn’t think Abe would be too pleased either and urged Paulina to just let sleeping dogs lie.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say Paulina’s buried secret will cause a world of trouble down the road, so stick with DOOL.
