Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Wednesday, December 22 Recap – Philip Leaves Salem – EJ’s Annulment Ultimatum for Johnny

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, December 22, reveals that Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) left Salem for treatment while EJ DiMera (Dan Feurerriegel) had an annulment ultimatum for Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman). Let’s talk about how all the DOOL action played out.

At the DiMera mansion on Wednesday’s Days episode, Johnny explained his whirlwind proposal and marriage to Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens).

EJ thought Johnny had made a terrible mistake and basically accused Chanel of being a gold digger.

Paulina Price (Jackée Harry) took umbrage and argued that Chanel didn’t need the DiMera family’s money, but EJ kept at it. He reminded Johnny that he controlled the purse strings, so Johnny asked if EJ was cutting him off.

EJ said he wouldn’t if Johnny did the intelligent thing by getting an annulment. He pointed out that Chanel was no stranger to them after what happened with Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer)!

Johnny was certain Chanel married him for love and argued that they were 100-percent committed to each other.

However, Paulina pointed out that Chanel was kissing Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) not too long ago.

That news came as a shock to Sami, but Chanel insisted she talked it out with Allie and that they just loved each other as friends.

Sami still couldn’t offer her blessing and tried to act like marriage wasn’t a game, but Johnny practically scoffed over how judgmental she was being.

After Johnny ranted about EJ and Sami’s mess of a marriage, he suggested it was a miracle he wanted to marry at all with them for role models.

Johnny admitted he hoped his parents could get on board, but he felt Chanel was all the family he needed if they couldn’t.

After Johnny headed upstairs with Chanel, they donned their wedding rings and promised nothing would change how they felt about each other.

Back downstairs on Wednesday’s Days episode, Paulina decided she was going to ask forgiveness for her reaction and let Chanel make her own decisions as a grown woman. She thought EJ and Sami should do the same unless they wanted to lose their son.

Once Sami was alone with EJ, she reflected on their marriage and how everyone wanted her to believe it was doomed. Sami insisted she wasn’t going to quit and knew EJ loved her back.

Sami wanted to rip up the new divorce papers, but EJ wound up doing it himself. EJ confessed he didn’t want a divorce; he wanted Sami instead.

At the pub, Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) stopped Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) and wondered what the rush was to get upstairs.

Their conversation led to Kate filling Roman in on the revoked document that would let Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) off the hook.

Kate made it clear she wasn’t giving up hope that Philip was alive and made plans for Christmas Eve lunch with Roman later. Meanwhile, Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) had a flashback of chloroforming Sami outside the Hernandez home.

Lucas explained to Philip how he knew a couple guys from his prison days who had a cabin in Wisconsin, so he hired them to keep Sami prisoner.

Lucas admitted he didn’t really think about the endgame when he first kidnapped Sami. He just didn’t want to see Sami go back to EJ again.

The opportunity to be Sami’s hero dropped into Lucas’ lap when she called Allie in front of him, but Sami still went back to EJ.

Kate interrupted and reminded Philip that she told him not to let anyone in, but Lucas swore he wouldn’t spill anything. After Lucas was summoned to the Salem PD, Kate sat down with Philip and made sure he was OK with the plan.

Philip found out Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) was in the loop and had a jet waiting to whisk him off for treatment.

Philip knew he needed help and vowed not to screw it up before he shared a goodbye hug with Kate.

While Kate distracted Roman downstairs, Philip snuck out while wearing his hoodie to conceal his identity. He gave a little wave to Kate as he prepared to head over to the runway.

In a room at the Salem Inn, possessed Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) warned Jan that her freedom was conditional on doing exactly what she was told.

Jan thought they both wanted the same thing and was delighted to learn she’d be sleeping with Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) – though she didn’t want to force him.

Marlena scoffed since Jan previously held Shawn in a cage, but she explained that she had a way to make Shawn throw Jan on the bed and make passionate love for her. She got Jan to text Shawn the room number as step one of the plan.

At the police station, Belle Brady (Martha Madison) was concerned over Shawn’s updates.

Shawn explained how Marlena attacked Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) and stole her hospital key card as part of some plot against them.

Belle worried this involved Jan, but Shawn noted that she was still in a coma. After Belle said she hoped Jan stayed there forever, she remained uneasy over being Marlena’s target.

Nevertheless, Belle assured Shawn that they would celebrate their anniversary – devil or no devil.

Once Shawn was alone, he got a text from an unknown number summoning him to room 514 of the Salem Inn.

Shawn texted back to ask who sent the message, so Marlena replied to just come and promised he wouldn’t be sorry.

Jan wound up pacing around and feared Shawn wouldn’t come, but Marlena felt confident Shawn’s inquiring detective mind wouldn’t be able to resist.

Sure enough, Shawn knocked on the door soon after – and Marlena encouraged Jan to answer it.

Shawn was about to break the door down when Jan – who was now identical to Belle – opened it looking all seductive. “Happy anniversary, sweetheart,” Jan said while in Belle twin mode.

Back at the station, the real Belle told Lucas that Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) wanted to talk to him about Sami’s kidnapping.

Lucas was alarmed to learn that one of the guys holding Sami hostage had been found and was being transported to the Salem PD.

Days of Our Lives spoilers say Lucas is about to dig a deeper hole for himself, so stay tuned!
