Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Wednesday, June 23 Recap – Tripp Dragged Into Dance Party - Xander & Gwen’s Cartoon Cover-Up

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, June 23, reveals that Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) and Gwen Rizczech’s (Emily O’Brien) cartoon cover-up fooled Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) while Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) was dragged into a dance party. Here’s how it all went down on Wednesday’s DOOL episode.

At Lani Price-Grant’s (Sal Stowers) apartment, she opened the door to Paulina Price (Jackee Harry) and let her gush over the twins. Soon after, Paulina blurted out that she slept with Abe Carver (James Reynolds), which threw Lani for a loop.

Lani wondered why Paulina was telling her this since she generally tried to stay out of her dad’s love life.

Paulina insisted that Lani meant a lot to her, so if she had a problem with this then it wouldn’t happen again. Lani appreciated Paulina taking her feelings into account and didn’t see this coming, but she pointed out it had been many years since her own mother was with Abe.

She argued that it had also been quite some time since Abe and Valerie Grant (Vanessa A. Williams) dated.

If Abe and Paulina made each other happy, Lani didn’t see any reason to stand in the way of that.

Lani didn’t know if she had the power to give her blessing necessarily, but she let Paulina know she was indeed OK with her relationship with Abe. Paulina pulled Lani into a big hug – though her expression was a bit uneasy.

At the pub on Wednesday’s Days episode, Abe was in a great mood and insisted beers were on him. Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) felt like this must have something to do with Paulina, so Abe confessed that he walked her home and was invited in for a nightcap.

Abe confessed to sleeping with Paulina and was worried since Paulina was Lani’s aunt.

Roman felt like Abe should just be open and honest with Lani if he was concerned. Afterward, Abe headed to Lani’s place and was surprised to find that Paulina had already filled her in.

Lani let Abe know that if Paulina made him happy, that was good enough for her. That said, Lani chuckled over how that didn’t mean they could flirt in front of her!

Once Paulina left, Lani admitted she loved seeing Abe happy and embraced him. When pressed, Lani confessed it was a little weird to have her dad involved with her aunt, but she knew how wonderful they both were. “Why wouldn’t I be in favor of it? What could go wrong?” Lani asked.

In the town square, Paulina flashed back the day she baked sweet potato pie with Chanel – and then to her earlier conversation with Lani.

Paulina also remembered Chanel quizzing her about the blueprints and was clearly wrestling with guilt over her secret plans for the square.

Meanwhile, Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) stopped by Nicole Brady’s (Arianne Zucker) place so she could taste-test Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) and Chanel Dupree’s (Precious Way) batch of doughnuts.

Julie kept the girls in suspense briefly, but she ultimately revealed that they were delicious and a true triumph.

Before Julie took off, she got choked up over the love in these doughnuts and how Alice Horton (Frances Reid) would be delighted over her legacy being kept alive.

Once Allie was alone with Chanel, they talked about how the bakery was actually happening and shared a warm moment as they clasped hands.

Soon after, Tripp’s arrival interrupted. Allie stuffed a doughnut in Tripp’s mouth playfully, so he gave them an amazing review.

Tripp also admitted to catching Dr. Clay Snyder (Michael Lowry) doing something shady at the hospital and ratting him out to Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans), so he was worried about his job.

Chanel put some brownies in the oven as a distraction and suggested a living room dance party while they all waited. After Allie and Chanel danced together briefly, they argued that Tripp wasn’t wiggling out of this.

Tripp got teased over his nerdy dance moves before Chanel showed him some better ones. He tasted a brownie fresh out of the oven later and declared it the best one he’d ever had in his life.

Tripp felt confident Chanel and Allie were going to make a fortune with the new bakery.

At Julie’s Place, Jack asked why Kayla and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) were talking about Gwen. They tried to act like they were just concerned about Gwen moving in, but Jack stood by his daughter and felt things would work out.

Jack also mentioned that Dr. Snyder stopped by to see Gwen. He talked about how Dr. Snyder wanted to make sure Gwen took all her meds – though he didn’t have many details.

Jack excused himself since he had a video call with Jennifer Deveraux (Cady McClain) to get to, but he assured Steve and Kayla that everything was under control when it came to Gwen.

After Jack was gone, Kayla and Steve agreed they couldn’t accuse Gwen until they knew the truth. They felt it was important to figure out the real connection between Gwen and Dr. Snyder.

At the Horton house, Gwen panicked over Dr. Snyder’s sudden death. Xander insisted it wasn’t murder, but Gwen argued this man still wasn’t alive unless she could “perform a bloody miracle!” Gwen tried CPR, but it was no use.

When Julie came in, she started ranting about how this had become a halfway house for lowlifes. Julie demanded to know whose friend this was, to Xander lied that it was his.

Julie tried to wake Dr. Snyder up before assuming he was passed out cold. Xander said his friend had a substance abuse problem and that he’d had too much scotch at lunch.

“Just get your comatose drinking buddy off my grandmother’s sofa and out of this house!” Julie snapped. Once Gwen was alone with Xander again, Xander felt it was time to call the police.

Gwen thought Xander had gone mad and insisted she’d already been caught with one dead body. She felt this would look like a pattern and felt Xander had caused Dr. Snyder’s heart attack by scaring him.

Gwen also pointed out that Kayla was suspicious of her and felt she might as well wear a sign that said she was a drug mule if they called the cops. Xander decided they would move the body, but Jack arrived home moments later.

By the time Jack walked in, Xander and Gwen had a blanket draped over their legs. It concealed Dr. Snyder’s corpse at their feet, so Gwen and Xander tried to act like they were just casually watching cartoons together.

Jack was impressed to see Xander and Gwen getting along. He suggested he could join them, but they argued that the show was almost over and would be hard to follow if Jack didn’t watch it from the beginning.

Jack had some mail to open, so he got Xander to hand him the letter opener before he went in the other room.

Once the coast was clear on Wednesday’s Days episode, Xander told Gwen they were in this together now. He pushed Gwen to grab one end of Dr. Snyder while he grabbed the other as they prepared to get the body out of the house.
