Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Wednesday, September 29 Recap – Ava Seeks Angelo’s Mob Evidence on Jake – EJ & Nicole Stick It to Sami

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Wednesday, September 29, reveals that Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) decided to seek Angelo Vitali’s (Angelo Tiffe) mob evidence on Jake DiMera (Brandon Barash) while EJ DiMera (Dan Feurriegel) encouraged Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) to stick it to Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney).

In the town square, Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) pointed out that Jake must’ve known enforcers or hitmen when he was in the mob. She wondered if Jake knew someone who could rub Ava out, but Jake warned that could start a mob war and wanted no part of anything to do with his old life.

Gabi grew a bit suspicious and wondered if Jake had ever killed anyone, but he denied it. Jake claimed that his bosses would make arrangements for protection, so his job was to enforce those arrangements. Gabi realized that meant Jake would hurt them if they didn’t pay up.

Jake worried that the mob could play the long game and pull him back in if they found him useful. Gabi hinted that maybe there was some crime Ava hadn’t been charged with, but Jake thought it’d mean tempting fate to get caught up in that world again.

Gabi ultimately decided that Jake was right – that they should just count their blessings that Jake was out of the mob and that they were safe. Jake embraced Gabi and assured her that he’d never stop trying to make her happy, but Gabi insisted Jake already had.

At home, Ava said if she was going to help Philip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) take Gabi down, she needed to know what was in it for her. Philip was pleased to learn Ava was open to negotiation and even more pleased to learn Cousin Angelo was meticulous about keeping records – meaning there was evidence of Jake’s mob crimes.

Philip realized Gabi would likely give up Gabi Chic to keep Jake out of jail, but Ava wanted a job in return. In fact, Ava wanted to be put in charge of Gabi Chic and insisted they could call it Ava Chic. Philip wasn’t interested at first, but Ava stood her ground and forced him to shake on the deal.

Afterward on Wednesday’s Days episode, Ava left Angelo a voicemail in hopes of getting some info on Jake Lambert. Philip was impatient while they waited on Angelo to call back, but Ava reassured him.

When Jake and Gabi returned, Philip ducked in the other room to hide. Gabi and Jake could smell aftershave, which Gabi found familiar – though she knew it wasn’t Rafe Hernandez’s (Galen Gering).

At the DiMera mansion on Wednesday’s Days episode, Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) brought some kites for the kids and stayed for tea with Abigail DiMera (Marci Miller). They discussed Xander Cook Kiriakis’ (Paul Telfer) arrest and how Jack knew for a fact Xander was innocent since he was actually protecting Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien).

Abigail was surprised to learn something romantic seemed to be going on between Gwen and Xander. She also got updates on Gwen’s claims that she used to be a prostitute and was being blackmailed by Dr. Clay Snyder (Michael Lowry) to help deal drugs. Abigail kept beating herself up for what happened to Gwen’s baby, but Jack insisted both Abigail and Gwen needed to forgive themselves.

Although Abigail understood Gwen not wanting anyone to know she was a hooker, she thought it was odd that Gwen would be willing to get caught up in drug dealing to avoid spilling that secret. If Abigail were in Gwen’s position, she would’ve rather come clean than commit more crimes.

In the interrogation room on Wednesday’s DOOL episode, Gwen suggested that maybe Jake would do her a favor for old time’s sake. Since Jake used to be in the mob, Gwen thought perhaps he could threaten the judge with bodily harm. Xander nixed that plan and didn’t like Gwen’s next one either.

Gwen wanted to pose as a prostitute and make it clear there was nothing she wouldn’t do to save her boyfriend. Xander liked the new boyfriend title, but he refused to let Gwen “shag” some other man.

Gwen clarified that she wasn’t actually going to sleep with the judge; she was just going to go in with a recorder and get him to agree to a trade. Gwen would then have blackmail material to get Xander’s case thrown out. Xander worried it was too dangerous, but Gwen argued that Xander was the first man who actually meant something to her. “I’ll be damned if I let you go to prison,” Gwen declared.

At Basic Black, EJ pushed Nicole to give him a chance to redeem himself over dinner. Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) overheard and hoped Nicole would be too smart to accept the offer. Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin) showed up as well, but it was mostly Brady and EJ who bickered about whether it was dangerous to go out with EJ.

EJ didn’t think this was any of Brady’s concern and felt like it all went back to a time when Nicole chose EJ over Brady. Once Brady and Chloe left, EJ wondered who Brady was to tell Nicole who she could or couldn’t date. Nicole wasn’t sure she was ready to date again – not to mention she couldn’t really trust EJ’s motives.

When Nicole asked if this was really just a way to stick it to Sami, EJ wondered why dating Nicole would have anything to do with Sami. Nicole argued that it’d drive Sami insane if she knew, but she didn’t want to be a pawn in EJ’s game. EJ insisted Nicole would hardly be a pawn and thought Nicole would enjoy sticking it to Sami just as much.

Nicole pointed out that Sami left town and might not find out about the date, but EJ said he was quite sure she would. Once EJ realized Nicole was ready to cave in, he said that was wonderful and promised to pick her up at eight.

Brady and Chloe arrived just in time to overhear, so Brady obviously wasn’t happy about the date moving forward. “When this blows up in your face, don’t say I didn’t warn you,” Brady said.
