Someone set off an IED at the federal courthouse in NYC. The bomb was hidden inside of a childhood’s backpack and neither the son nor his mother was suspects in the bombing. The boy was Evan Rose. He was just a kid. He was five years old and he couldn’t be a terrorist. His mother Stacey Rose was in fact an AUSA. There was no way she would be involved. With both people having access to the backpack being ruled out, it begged the question of how the bomber got to the backpack. The mother and son had stopped on their way to the courthouse. They stopped at a vegan donut shop around the corner. The FBI secured surveillance footage of the two of them ordering their breakfast and they spotted the man who swapped his bomb with the real backpack.

The bomber must have known the mother and son’s routine. He had a fake backpack of the same make and model and he carried a bomb. He then waited to switch it out. He also kept an eye on the situation close enough to detonate it with a remote. The bomber could possibly be connected to another bombing that happened in New Jersey. The other time had been an IRS building. The bomber at that time had been a suicide bomber and he died after setting it off. The bomber that time was Dawkins. He was a former military. The newest bomber turned out to be Ryan Davis and he was also a former military. The team was able to track don Davis thanks to the surveillance footage and they arrested him.

But they couldn’t get him to talk. Davis was close-mouthed and he didn’t want to even acknowledge he knew the other bomber and so the FBI looked for a connection between the two. One besides their military record. The two men were connected to a place called Garrison Lodge. It’s a club for vets and it was so tight-knit that the ATF couldn’t infiltrate it or prove that it was front for a gunrunner. All they had were suspicions. OA had a connection to the group. An old friend of his from the military was a member and this friend had needed a favor from him and so he reached out. He called up Chris Zapata. Zapata told him about the group. He also mentioned that Dawkins and Davis were on the fringes of the group.

The only ones those two hung out with were the owner. Nick Hawthorne was a vet and he owned the lodge and worked there. The FBI went to his house. They went through it and checked everything. There were no signs of a conspiracy or any bomb materials there. Hawthorne also denied any connections to the bombings although he did admit he understood where the bombers were coming from. Many vets struggle with coming back home. They face homelessness, addiction, and PTSD. There also wasn’t a lot of support for vets on the homefront. The VA was a joke. The IRS came for Dawkins for being unable to pay his bills and Davis took issue when three of his friends were facing charges from the AUSA for holding up a doctor for prescription drugs.

The same drugs that the doctor gave to them like candy at first. Which created the addiction and the vets were unable to sustain it. The vets were angry. They were lashing out and Hawthorne was telling them what to do. He was a planner. Only he couldn’t be the person making the bombs and so he had someone working for him. The team needed to plant a listening device at the Lodge. OA was asked to lean on his old friend Chris and, when he tried to protest, his boss gave him a direct order. Isobel was receiving a lot of pressure from DC. They wanted the conspiracy on federal buildings to come to an end and her bosses weren’t going to take the answer that they had Chris and didn’t use him.

OA turned to Chris. Chris didn’t want to participate in the beginning and so OA showed him a photo of one of the victims. He showed him the picture of Evan Rose. The kid was on his way to daycare when someone put a bomb in his backpack and it nearly killed him. It did kill his mother. Chris has a rule about kids and it was that they weren’t to be involved. He went rushing into a burning building to save children. He also hunted down the people who bombed it and one of the bombers mysteriously disappeared. OA used that. He used the fact that Chris would never harm a child no matter the reasons to get him to turn on Hawthorne and in return Chris planted a bug. He also did something he wasn’t asked to do. He got into Hawthorne’s face.

Chris was able to get footage of Hawthorne’s inner circle. The FBI used facial recognition and they identified one of the men as a man he used to disarm bombs. He was a bomb expert. He now makes them for Hawthorne and they found where he was hiding. Victor Maxwell’s walk on the edge of reason happened after his wife filed for divorce. He now thinks he has nothing to lose and so he made bombs. More than two. The FBI raided his motel room and they found evidence that a third bomb had been created. It wasn’t at the motel and so Maxwell must have given it to someone. OA spoke with Maxwell. Maxwell said people needed to remember what it takes to sign up for the military and that later made sense when they found the third bomb. The third bomb was on its way to a recruitment center.

Tiffany and Stuart got to the bomber in time. They stopped the bomb from hurting anyone and they were able to arrest the guy who planed on planting it. The only thing they didn’t have was Hawthorne. No one was speaking against him and so OA told his friend Chris that they didn’t have enough evidence to arrest Hawthorne and that made Chris mad. Chris lost it. He took a gun to the Lodge. He took Hawthorne hostage and he tried to force him to confess and nothing worked. They got into a struggle over the gun. Hawthorne shot Chris and so Chris shot and killed Hawthorne. Chris is now facing a murder or manslaughter charge. He was admitted to a psychiatric facility. He was finally being treated for his condition. And meanwhile, OA could be in trouble.

OA’s informant killed a suspect. He was going to be questioned about Chris’s mentality and Isobel wanted him to lie. She wanted him to say he had no idea that Chris was struggling when he did. He actually tried to warn her and she ignored him. And so that’s what OA is going to say.

THE END
