It was Elena’s Quinceañera. She was supposed to be celebrating with her family on becoming a woman. However, a gunman decided to put an end to the festivities. The shooter shot off several rounds and he took out both Elena as well as her mother. He even got into a physical altercation with Elena’s father who tried to stop him from fleeing the scene.

The shooter unfortunately got away just before he shouted obscenities and racial slurs. The shooter targeted this party because he was trying to kill Hispanics. This made it a hate crime and the mass shooting on top of it had made it the FBI’s problem. Jubel later sent Maggie and OA to the scene where they questioned everyone. The two agents questioned the family on if they had any enemies and Elena’s father reminded them how bad things have gotten lately.

The racists came out in full force whenever they see a Hispanic person because they like telling them to go back to their own country. To these people, it didn’t matter that often the Hispanics they were yelling at were American. The racists didn’t care and so the FBI checked out any hotheads in the area. They found Patrick Ryan because his cell phone pinged off the nearest tower.

Patrick was recently released from prison and he was a known white supremacist from Boston. The FBI figured he targeted the restaurant because it was Spanish. The team was sent to Patrick’s home and they were shot at. The FBI were able to hold their own. They also searched the apartment once they were done and they found a picture of a waiter at the restaurant.

The waiter’s name is Gabriel. Gabriel left work after the shooting and he hid at his aunt’s home. Agents Tiffany and Scola found him there. Gabriel had tried to pull a gun on them because he thought they were pretending to be FBI Special Agents and so they had to fight him and arrest him.

It was after he was under arrest that Gabriel began talking. He thought the agents had been sent by Jose Martinez who was a big-time drug dealer and he thought Martinez because of Valentina. Valentina was Martinez’s girlfriend. She’s also been seeing Gabriel behind his back and the two planned on running away to Miami together only for Valentina to later change her mind. She told Gabriel that the relationship had to end because Martinez was getting suspicious.

This is why Gabriel believes Ryan was trying to kill him. He thinks Ryan was ordered to do it by Martinez and so the team checked out Martinez. There was a file on him from within the department. Another FBI team was investigating Martinez and looking to build a RICO case against him. This case was being run by Nestor. Nestor also happens to be dating Maggie and Maggie’s FBI partner OA had a problem with that.

OA has been making snide comments. He often challenges Nestor in the field and so this time wasn’t any different. OA demanded to speak to Nestor’s CI within Martinez’s organization. He and Maggie spoke with this Carlos and they wanted to use him to pin Elena and her mother’s murders on Martinez. And Nestor stopped them.

Nestor wired Martinez’s organization. Neither Martinez nor anyone in his crew has ever mentioned Gabriel or Patrick Ryan. There was a photo however of Ryan meeting with Valentina. Valentina also sent text messages asking Gabriel to meet and when the FBI allowed him to go there – Gabriel was shot down. He was murdered and the team had enough on Valentina to bring her in. They confronted her with Gabriel.

They believed she set him up to be killed and that wasn’t the case. Valentina swore she had nothing to do with it. She said she met with Ryan because Martinez couldn’t make a meeting with the man and he demanded that she go in person to tell Ryan why he wasn’t there. And as for the text messages, Valentina said Martinez made her send them because he was going to threaten Gabriel into leaving her alone.

Valentina claims she didn’t know her boyfriend was going to kill Gabriel. She was willing to give evidence against him and she told the team that the gun used on Gabriel matched the weapon his brother gifted him over Christmas. Only there was a problem with using Valentina. The team were told to hold off on their case as the other team made their case for RICO. OA got into Nestor’s face about it and he told Nestor that he was just going to let the killers walk.

OA let his personal feelings for Nestor to cloud his judgment. He even accused Maggie of being on Nestor’s side and she was the one who talked to Isobel. Maggie asked their boss if they could go ahead in spite of Nestor’s case and she was told no. The RICO case takes precedence.

The most their team could do was collect evidence. They wired Valentina and she tried to get a confession out of Martinez, but he threatened to kill her if she pushed it and so the team used something else. The team went after the murder weapon.

Martinez held all his weapons in his basement safe and he was home all day. The team had to knock out the cable during a big game. Martinez would be so focused on the game that this would allow Valentina the chance to grab the gun and that’s exactly what happened. She got the gun. She also later started panicking that Martinez would kill her so she called Maggie and Nestor gave them all clear to move ahead in spite of his case.

OA and Maggie were later able to arrest Martinez for murder thanks to Nestor. This also helped OA to change his mind about Nestor and he told Maggie he was so sorry about how he’s been acting. He just wanted to keep Maggie safe, but he realized now he should have minded his own business.

THE END!
