General Hospital (GH) spoilers has revealed that Cameron Mathison, known for his portrayal of Ryan Lavery on All My Children, is joining GH in an undisclosed role. GH spoilers claim there is a chance that Mathison could be playing the role of none other than Ric Lansing, the half brother of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Ric (played by Rick Hearst) who also is the father of Molly Lansing Davis (Haley Pullos), came onto the Port Charles scene in 2002, and stayed until 2009, where he moved to Los Angeles. He returned to Port Charles in 2014, and stayed until he was dropped from the show altogether in 2016.
In fact, General Hospital has been acting like Sonny’s only sibling on the show was Courtney Matthews (Alicia Leigh Willis). Which is strange, considering Ric’s daughter, Molly, is still on the show. It seems that GH hospital could be making up for it now by hiring Mathison.
The last time Rick was seen, he was trying to get back together with Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and stop her from going out with Franco (Roger Howarth). Obviously, that plan failed, as Liz would later marry Franco.
Now that Franco is dead, Ric may see it as his chance to try and win Elizabeth’s heart back. General Hospital spoilers say that may be a problem, considering how they broke up in the first place.
When Ric tried to get back together with Elizabeth, she was having feelings for “Jake Doe”, aka Drew Cain (Billy Miller). So he hired Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) to pretend to be “Jake’s” wife and get Elizabeth back.
This all unraveled when Carly (Laura Wright) exposed Ric’s scheme to everyone, including LIz, during the Nurses’ Ball, thus causing Liz to break up with him for good.
Speaking of Carly, Ric could return to town to get revenge on Carly for ruining his chances with Elizabeth. Currently, Carly is taking over Sonny’s place after his “death”. However, there’s a small chance that Ric could come to try to take over the business.
While it was no secret that there was no brotherly love between Ric and Sonny, it’s funny how Ric missed his own brother’s funeral, but would come just in time to take over the family business.
Carly will stand her ground, refuse to give the mantle, and remind Ric of all the terrible things he has done to her and her family.
So it would be no surprise if Ric decides to work for Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), in order to get Carly out of the way, and take down the Corinthos clan, once and for all .
Ric can also be a shoulder for Nina (Cynthia Watros) to cry on, once the whole Sonny/Mike plot and her role in it is exposed. The two were briefly married after the Hayden scheme blew up.
However, that marriage quickly ended when Nina found out that Ric only wanted her money. Of course, she could always go back to Ric when she’s the town pariah.
GH spoilers reminds us there is no confirmation that Mathison will take over the role of Ric, but it would be a good route to go on, considering everything that is going on in the current storylines. Come back to CDL for all your General Hospital news, spoilers and recaps!
