General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) may realize she can’t love “Mike” and determine that she prefers Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) over weak amnesiac Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Will Carly’s reunion with her true husband turn out to be a huge disappointment?
It’s doubtful Sonny will face a memory flood before his real identity is discovered. Once Sonny finally makes it to Port Charles, he should still be “Mike” – and that means things are going to be complicated.
There’s been a lot of talk about why Carly and Sonny’s complex relationship worked, but it’s certainly not going to be the same following Sonny’s return.
GH fans know “Mike” is nothing like Sonny at all, so Carly will struggle to connect with him.
Sonny just isn’t the kind of man Carly would fall for anymore – and “Mike” probably isn’t going to be all that drawn to Carly either.
Of course, there may be a physical attraction and some level of a magnetic pull just based on their old bond. Even so, “Mike” and Carly won’t have anything in common any longer.
Carly has latched into the mob life in Sonny’s absence, but “Mike” will want to keep his distance from that.
As a result, Sonny may want to keep his distance from Carly, too. Perhaps Sonny will even argue that Jason is a better match and encourage Carly to stick with her new husband.
Sonny might still want Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) despite her deception. Regardless, it’s hard to imagine Sonny and Carly will really want each other as long as he’s behaving like “Mike.”
Carly would love nothing more than to reunite with her presumed dead husband, but “Mike” is like a completely different person these days. It’s not really going to feel like Carly’s hubby has come back to her.
“Mike” and Carly will inevitably clash, so Sonny may act like the best thing Carly can do is just enjoy her new marriage to Jason and focus on running the mob with him.
If Sonny insists he doesn’t want Carly anymore, it’ll make it that much easier for Carly to admit she doesn’t love this version of him.
Carly may choose Jason over “Mike” – at least until Sonny’s memories return.
