General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) may experience a romantic pull in the months ahead. Will Carly be drawn to Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) twin in the exit aftermath?
If you haven’t heard by now, Steve Burton’s onscreen departure is just around the corner. Reliable insiders insist it’s a done deal that Burton’s gone, so we have to start thinking about what that means for Carly.
It would’ve been tough for Carly to lose her best friend anyway, but their short-lived marriage should make things doubly hard.
Carly has been trying to get things back on track in her real marriage to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), but that doesn’t mean she’s fully resolved her romantic feelings for Jason.
Once Jason’s most likely presumed dead, that’s going to be a lot for Carly to process emotionally.
Carly may not feel like she can lean on Sonny like she normally would – partly because of the “Jarly” romance and partly because she feels like she doesn’t really know Sonny anymore.
Although Carly still gets flashes of the old Sonny, she can feel that he’s not quite the same man he used to be.
Carly and Sonny’s issues may get far worse due to his lingering connection to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), which is only getting stronger if their recent scenes are any indication.
With Sonny drifting toward Nina as another romantic path, where does that leave Carly? It’s only fair for Carly to have another man on the side to lean on – and it won’t be Jason once he departs the show.
Drew is the most logical backup option since GH seems committed to moving forward with Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and Dante Falconeri’s (Dominic Zamprogna) relationship.
There’s certainly the potential for a Drew and Sam reunion down the road, but it makes more sense for Drew to take Jason’s place in Carly’s story – at least for now.
Carly was close to Drew once upon a time when she thought he was Jason.
Carly may cling to Drew as a source of comfort due to his Jason twin link – not to mention the fact that they’ll both be lost and lonely hearts in the coming months.
It’s just easy to imagine the show taking the Drew and Carly romance route under the circumstances, so stay tuned to see if that’s how it all plays out.
