General Hospital Spoilers: Chad Brannon Returns to GH – Zander Smith Back For Cameron's Tragedy

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that a face from the past is returning for a shocking story twist. According to EW, Chad Brannon is returning to Port Charles in some form. Brannon portrayed the role of Alexander “Zander” Smith from 2000-2004, but he was ultimately killed off after he took a bullet on screen.

Of course, anything’s possible in the soap world, but it seems doubtful that Brannon is coming back to play a living, breathing Zander. It seems much more likely we’ll be dealing with a Zander ghost or vision – kind of like when Ian Buchanan reprised his role as Duke Lavery in Julian Jerome’s (William deVry) hallucination.

Zander was a deeply troubled man who resorted to violence and really went off the rails before his demise. Since Zander was shot and killed right in front of GH fans, there’s just no logical way to explain his survival and return after all these years.

However, there are some easy explanations for why Zander’s ghost might appear.

Zander was Cameron Webber’s (William Lipton) biological father, so there’s a good chance Zander will tie in with Cam’s upcoming storyline.

Perhaps with death has come wisdom – and Cameron might need to hear from his deceased bio dad in some dark moments.

General Hospital spoilers point to a traumatic event that rattles Cameron in the coming weeks. Cam’s life will be blown apart, so this could involve some danger related to Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) and his brain tumor.

Whatever the case, it looks like Cameron could face some serious injuries thanks to whatever goes down. It could lead to a near-death experience where Zander appears to Cam with a message for his biological son.

No matter how the writers fit Brannon back in, he’s a handsome and talented General Hospital actor that many viewers will be glad to see again. It’s always fun when GH throws in some surprises and keeps fans interested with returns like this.

Naturally, there’s a chance Brannon could be playing a new role instead, but all the puzzle pieces fit for a ghostly visit that connects to Cameron’s looming crisis.

Brannon will start filming his return stint on February 12, so we’ll pass along updates as news about his first airdate approaches.

General Hospital spoilers say Cameron and the “Friz” family will have some ride some dramatic waves, so stay tuned. CDL’s your one-stop source for scorching General Hospital spoilers, news and updates, so stop by regularly.
