General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Elizabeth “Liz” Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) will reconnect after years apart, so let’s see what’s going to happen when these exes catch up.
Liz had a relationship with Drew back when he was still Jake Doe – before he even mistakenly came to believe he was Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Of course, Drew eventually found out he’d been memory-mapped to be Jason, but a lot has changed since his previous time in Port Charles.
Drew clearly has his old memories now and can build a new life for himself in PC – one that doesn’t involve living as some shadow of Jason. GH writers also seem to be working on doing right by Drew and giving him some solid relationships around town.
There’s the potential for a nice friendship between Liz and Drew now that he’s back in Port Charles. Regardless, Liz needs a chance to see Drew again after all this time and address the presumed dead Jason situation.
On December 21, Liz will have a startling encounter with Drew. Although Liz may get updates on Drew’s return before then, it’ll still be jarring to see him in the flesh. There should be some warm moments as Drew and Liz chat, but there’ll also be some somber ones since Drew wasn’t able to save Jason on Cassadine Island.
GH fans know Drew thought he was Jake Webber’s (Hudson West) father for a while due to all the memory-mapping drama. Drew now cares about Jake as his uncle and knows Jason meant a great deal to Liz as well.
This will be a good opportunity for Drew to share his condolences and wish he could’ve brought Jason home. Drew and Liz will also have to discuss Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) death, which should make all this even harder.
Franco was like a brother to Drew when they were younger – and they became pretty good pals in adulthood before Drew was held hostage. Drew will also hate that Jake lost a father figure along with his actual father, so he may offer to step up for some extra bonding time if that’s something that’d be helpful.
Naturally, the show might use this encounter to test Drew and Liz’s chemistry, too – just in case they want to try a romantic reunion somewhere down the line. As other news rolls in, we’ll keep you posted.
