General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) may finally get his real memories back – meaning he could remember his own past and not just the Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) memory-mapping.
Many GH fans grew frustrated when Billy Miller was playing the role of Drew since he couldn’t recall his true history.
Drew didn’t want to risk losing the new memories he’d made since coming to Port Charles – particularly ones of Scout Cain (Ella Ramacieri) and Oscar Nero Quartermaine (Garren Stitt) – so he decided to do nothing.
It was too dangerous to have a memory-mapping reversal procedure, so Drew was forced to live with all Jason’s memories rattling around in his head.
It was tough for Drew since he still felt like he’d lived all those moments, even when he hadn’t.
Drew may be forced to live with those Jason memories for the rest of his life, but he at least needs his own memories, too.
Before Drew’s exit as Drew Cain, there were some scenes where it seemed like his memories might still be in there on a subconscious level.
Perhaps Drew just needs something to trigger them – something like the trauma of being stuck in a foreign prison, which is indeed what’s going on with the character.
Maybe the stress of Drew’s ordeal could somehow unblock something – that is if the plane crash didn’t already do it!
However, it’s also possible GH writers will save the story of Drew getting his true memories back.
It might be another hot plot to focus on once Cameron Mathison makes his debut in the role and gets involved in some great storylines.
As fans get to know Mathison’s version, we could also get to know who Drew really is as his own person – not just a memory-mapped version of Jason.
