General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) could use the Nurses Ball to make his return from the “dead,” but that also means Peter August (Wes Ramsey) could unleash his programmed killer on Port Charles.
Drew was hoping he could fight off Peter’s mind control and avoid being sent on another mission. He even physically attacked Peter, but none of it was enough to beat the second layer of conditioning – which is obviously deeply embedded and quite intense.
It’s hard to believe Drew would’ve gone to the lengths Peter demanded as part of a ruse, so it looks like he’s back in soldier mode and ready for more orders. Fortunately, Drew’s resolve is only going to get stronger as this storyline moves along.
Drew will gain a new opportunity to fight against this conditioning every time his killer instincts are activated. As a result, Drew may get closer and closer to overriding this trance with his love for Scout Cain (Ella Ramacieri).
That’s what Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) suggested focusing on, so Drew at least knows what tactic to use. However, it makes sense for the sake of drama to send Drew on his worst mission yet and have him be unable to fight it – at least at first.
Since we know Peter wants Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Louise August (Harper and Scarlett Bloom), he’s going to land back in Port Charles eventually.
Peter will figure out Louise has been “Bailey Quartermaine” this whole time, so he’ll no doubt be furious and ready to murder anyone who stands in his way.
Peter will want revenge on his enemies as well, so plenty of people in PC will be at risk.
Perhaps Drew could be the secret weapon Peter unveils right around the time of the Nurses Ball. That could be when Peter exposes Drew’s survival with a joint grand entrance and delivers some deadly orders.
Naturally, there might still be one last chance for Drew to beat the conditioning, especially if Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) works to get through to him.
Scout may even be at the Nurses Ball this fall, so the sight of her alone could break the hold this programming has on Drew.
Whatever the case, Drew will have to find a way to conquer Peter’s strategy and reclaim his life in Port Charles. We’ll offer updates as other GH news becomes available.
