General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) and Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) may have a secret connection that’ll ultimately be revealed. Do these similar schemers have a shocking link to tie them together? Let’s consider some intriguing clues and try to figure out where GH writers are headed.
For starters, we can’t ignore the resemblance between Esme and Nelle. One look at social media will tell you that tons of fans think these characters look and act alike.
There’s lots of talk about Esme being Nelle 2.0 – and there’s even been some dialogue on the show to back up the idea.
Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) can tell Esme is a wild card, so she offered Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) a warning in the September 29 episode. Joss was headed off to follow Esme and said something that could point to a Nelle connection.
“Please, I survived Nelle,” Josslyn insisted. “I can handle whatever Esme’s got.” The idea here is that Esme couldn’t possibly be as dangerous as Nelle in Josslyn’s eyes.
Of course, Esme just might prove Josslyn wrong – and that could be because she’s connected to the worst of the worst!
To go back even further, let’s remember when Esme first met Josslyn at Kelly’s. Josslyn’s kidney transplant came up, which Josslyn found rather odd.
“I mean, who mentions a kidney transplant five seconds after meeting me?” Josslyn asked Cameron Webber (William Lipton) in the August 20 episode.
Since Nelle’s kidney was stolen from her and wound up saving Josslyn’s life, that’s another hint we can’t dismiss. Esme is also sniffing around Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom), who was a good friend of Nelle’s when they were both at Pentonville.
What if Esme’s interested in becoming a pal of Ryan’s because he used to be pals with Nelle?
Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) had a Nelle connection of her own since they used to be cellmates once upon a time, so maybe it’s not surprising that Harmony can see the warning signs when it comes to Esme.
Esme has been helping target Ava Jerome (Maura West), who had an alliance with Nelle that eventually turned sour.
You could argue there’s a potential revenge angle here, especially if Esme has grander plans.
Esme perhaps saw an easy opening to Port Charles vengeance through Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) and might have a list of other targets like Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) that she’ll get to at some point.
Josslyn is already becoming a bit of an obsession for Esme, so there has to be something deeper going on.
It’s possible Esme is Nelle’s half-sister if Silas Clay (Michael Easton) was her biological father.
This could even be a fraternal twin situation if Esme is lying about her age – making her Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) daughter as well.
Then again, the resemblance could be a coincidence. Esme might’ve known Nelle another way – like if they were in the same mental institution once upon a time.
Nelle indeed did a stint in one, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Esme did as well considering how insane she seems under the surface.
After all, this is someone who torched a car and left a dead woman’s hospital badge behind!
Whatever the case, Nelle’s name has been coming up like crazy lately. Now we’ve got Josslyn acting like she can handle Esme since she handled Nelle, so the story could be paving the way for a Nelle and Esme link.
Esme has definitely done her research and seems to know far more about the residents of PC than she’s letting on.
