General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, August 20, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) had a Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) wedding memory flash before Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) showed up in Nixon Falls. Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) also received a horrible phone call, so let’s discuss all Friday’s GH shockers.
In the Corinthos family kitchen, Carly revealed to Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) that she’d settled on a wedding date with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).
After Josslyn headed off to meet her friends, Carly talked to Michael about how the wedding should probably be a big deal since they were trying to send a message.
However, Carly would’ve preferred a more intimate gathering with their nearest and dearest. She tried to squeeze info out of Michael about his relationship with Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen), but he wouldn’t say much.
Michael did point out that after Willow became his wife, their marriage of convenience turned into more. He thought maybe a happy ending could come for Carly and Jason.
Meanwhile, Willow acted nervous as Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) talked about his love for her. Willow tried to act like nothing had changed, but Chase subtly applied pressure – seemingly hoping she’d come clean.
After Willow left in a hurry, she tracked down Michael to announce she couldn’t keep deceiving Chase like this.
Back with Chase, he scored the document Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) needed to prove Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle) wanted to make updates to his will. Chase left Austin a voicemail regarding his discovery.
While Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) found Chase’s empty wheelchair, Chase hobbled along using the wall to help him.
When Chase returned to his chair, he found Brook Lynn sitting in it and realized he had some explaining to do!
At the Metro Court pool, Martin got flirty with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). Anna wondered if Martin was hitting on her as he continued to chat her up.
Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) noticed and cornered Martin privately to make it clear he was not pleased.
After Valentin dropped a hint about how much Martin’s retainer was worth to him, the attorney seemed to get the message.
Martin later got a call that clearly disturbed him and rushed off to deal with something.
At home, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) quizzed Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) about Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) while she was off exploring.
After Laura warned that Spencer and Esme couldn’t live together, she agitated Spencer with talk about his finances now that he was done with Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma).
Once Spencer left, Martin showed up to see his dear sister and announced they were in trouble!
At Kelly’s, Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) arrived and was just about to tell Cameron Webber (William Lipton) about Esme when the girl herself walked in.
Josslyn eventually joined the gang and met Esme, who already knew all about Joss because of everything “Spence” had told her.
Esme struggled to get used to everyone calling him Spencer in Port Charles, but Joss took a jab about how well they all knew him.
Spencer eventually showed up and looked uncomfortable over Esme joining the crew. Trina started to leave, but Josslyn stopped her outside and pointed out that Spencer had previously acted super interested in her.
Josslyn knew Trina had to be hurting, but Trina acted like Spencer was just another guy and didn’t want Joss making a big deal about his girlfriend.
Even so, Josslyn sensed that Trina was suffering. When Cameron joined Josslyn afterward, he acknowledged that Esme was a little “extra. Cam and Joss were on the same page about it being what Spencer deserved.
In Nixon Falls, Sonny and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) discussed Lenny Caulfield’s (Rif Hutton) recent funeral and dug through a trunk for memorial wall items.
A wedding photo triggered a Carly memory flash for Sonny, who filled Nina in on the blonde woman with a wedding bouquet.
Sonny considered the possibility that it was a vision of the future instead of a memory and ended up kissing Nina, but she pulled back and said this was wrong.
After “Mike” apologized for getting off task, he talked about finding his true self and shared another close moment with Nina before heading off to check on Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy).
Once Nina was alone, she heard someone at the door and went to open it. Nina was stunned to see Maxie standing right in front of her!
General Hospital spoilers say Nina will struggle to get her uninvited guest out of The Tan-O, so don’t miss what’s next.
