General Hospital Spoilers: Friday, December 17 Recap – Mike Takes Liam Into the Afterlife – Sasha & Brando’s Farewell to Son

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, December 17, reveals that Mike Corbin (Max Gail) returned to take Liam Corbin into the afterlife, so Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) and Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) had to bid farewell to their son. Here’s how Friday’s emotional episode played out.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) brought Scout Cain (Ella Ramacieri) over to see Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), who hoped his daughter would help him pick out some new ornaments online for a small tree in the kitchen.

Scout still seemed uncomfortable around her dad, so Drew worried he was going about this all wrong. However, Sam felt confident that things would work out.

Meanwhile, Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) complained to Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) about TJ Ashford’s (Tajh Bellow) willingness to give Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) another chance like it was nothing.

Curtis didn’t approve of Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) going easy on Marshall either.

Portia wondered if maybe Curtis was afraid of getting hurt and thought he was making it seem like Marshall was dangerous.

Curtis mentioned the suspicions that swirled around Marshall the night of Joey Novak’s (Patrick Zeller) attack and knew he had to dig for the whole truth.

After calling Drew to confirm his offer to help investigate still stood, Portia pushed Curtis to consider the possibility that Marshall only wanted to be his father. Back with Sam, she was a little wary of Drew getting caught up in some risky investigation.

Drew downplayed it as a background check and let Sam know he wasn’t going to blow the second chance he’d been given with Scout.

Next, Elizabeth “Liz” Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) stood outside the NICU and reflected how unfair it was for Liam Corbin to be on the verge of death while Peter August (Wes Ramsey) was still breathing.

Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) was on the same page, but she knew they couldn’t decide who lived and who died – though Liz wished they could in this case.

Over with Brando and Sasha, they talked about the kind of life they would’ve given Liam if they’d had the chance. Sasha and Brando ultimately met with Dr. Fleming, who explained that Liam would be given a shot of morphine and would feel no pain once he was taken off life support.

Brando and Sasha knew it was time to let Liam Mike go be with his namesake, Mike Corbin. After Sasha and Brando donned gowns for the NICU, Sasha held their baby boy as he slipped away. Brando gave Liam a kiss on the head and told Mike to look after him.

Nearby, Mike appeared bathed in heavenly light and promised he’d indeed look after Liam with everything he had. A little later, Mike had Liam in his arms as he prepared to take Liam with him into the afterlife.

As for Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright), she was furious after spotting Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Carly opted to let Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) deal with Nina since Sasha and Brando mattered more.

Olivia cornered Nina to basically tell her that Carly could chew her up and spit her out if she wanted. Nina made it clear that the message was received and thought Olivia should really be focusing on her own marriage.

Olivia eventually met up with Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) and Leo Falconeri (Easton Rocket Sweda), who had a cookie before he excitedly dashed off to play games with a specialist and get an evaluation.

Across town, Stella thought back to her sister admitting Marshall left and how he pushed her to convince his boys that he was dead.

Marshall assured Stella he wouldn’t let Curtis know that she was in the loop. He pointed out that Stella knew why he had to leave and defended his decision to come back.

It felt like destiny to Marshall since he had a great love for music and Curtis now had a nightclub. Marshall recalled losing his old clarinet, which he called Henrietta.

Although Marshall had a replacement clarinet, he couldn’t play quite like he used to.

Still, Marshall thought on the right night with old Henrietta, he could really make her sing. Marshall later played a sad song on the clarinet – mostly to accompany the somber tone of Liam’s final moments.

Sasha cried in Brando’s arms when it was all over, so that left some teary onlookers at GH.

On a happier note, Scout found Drew’s favorite star ornament and seemed excited to place it on the tree with his help. We’ll keep you posted as other GH news and updates roll in.

General Hospital spoilers say Drew and Scout will keep up their efforts to bond, so stay tuned.
