General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, May 21, reveals that a WSB mystery got underway after Sean Donely’s (John Reilly) Ireland funeral – and Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) joined Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) baby delivery plot back in Port Charles.
On Friday’s GH episode, Sean’s loved ones wrapped up a graveside service in County Kerry, Ireland. Several of the attendees headed inside the inn Sean’s daughter, Annie Donely (Caitlin Reilly), had booked for them. Annie was appreciative over everyone coming in from out of town.
Talk turned to how Annie was accepted into the WSB training program and got all the way up to her final test – then nothing. They didn’t contact her again, so Annie assumed she didn’t make the cut.
Annie told a story about Sean giving her a ring with a stone that was said to be able to attract magnets. It was one of Annie’s last good memories of Sean since he was lucid that day at Christmas.
Annie reflected on looking up at the Christmas star with Sean and mentioned that her mom, Tiffany Hill (Shannon Wyatt), was off spreading some of Sean’s ashes in a village he loved.
Annie told Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) that a courier was being sent over since Sean still had very sensitive WSB documents in his possession. Robert and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) still had clearance, so Robert was hoping to access the safe where they were stored.
Robert insisted those old case files could help with a current one, but Annie refused to give him access.
Over with Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner), she blamed Anna for all the Peter August (Wes Ramsey) drama and how Maxie had been hurt. Felicia argued that Anna had talked her out of her own suspicions and made it so she couldn’t even protect her own child.
After a brief pep talk from Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough), Anna decided to try getting through to Felicia again.
Felicia didn’t think she could forgive Anna, but Anna kept up her pleas – and Mac Scorpio (John J. York) piped up about it being what Sean would want. Felicia eventually softened toward Anna since Mac was right.
Laura stepped outside to call Tiffany and vanished soon after. Her key was found before a search began for her. Annie eventually realized Laura’s room had been ransacked and found a Mexican flag with a toy gun on the floor.
Annie remembered back when her dad worked under the alias “El Patron,” so Robert noted that Sean’s time as an arms dealer wasn’t one of his finest hours.
Annie felt this was left for them to find and thought all of this could have something to do with her dad. Over with Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson), she looked shocked as she dropped her glass.
Annie investigated once again after she realized Monica was missing. A small Mount Rushmore replica was found, which tied in with some of Sean’s previous work as well.
Annie worried that her father’s friends were being targeted – and then Mac went missing, too. When Anna made a pitch about checking out the case files in the safe, Annie couldn’t let her. She took the oath she made to the WSB seriously even though she wasn’t an agent.
Robin and Anna helped Annie check the computer in the caretaker’s office for the security footage at one point, but the hard drive had been wiped. Annie didn’t think she’d gotten close enough to do that with the magnet in her ring.
Felicia could be heard screaming before Robert was found following a blow to the head.
After Annie discovered another clue involving Aztec jewels, she felt the person responsible knew all about her dad’s history. Annie argued that someone was picking them all off one by one – and that any one of them could be next.
After Annie picked up the phone Robert had dropped, she pulled up the list of recent calls and saw that he lied about calling the cops.
When Annie took that information to Anna, they bickered about the possibility that the person responsible for the disappearances tampered with the phone. Anna insisted it was important to not turn on each other.
Annie was still suspicious, so she went digging in Anna’s purse and found a magnet. When she confronted Robert and Anna, she accused them of being in on this together.
Annie assumed that Anna was the one who used the magnet to wipe the hard drive. She demanded to know where the others were, but Anna argued they were being set up.
Anna pushed once again to get in the safe to access those case files, but Annie stood her ground. She wouldn’t break her vow to the WSB and dishonor her father’s memory. In the end, Annie was surprised to learn the whole thing was a ruse. It was Annie’s final test – and everyone was in on it.
Since Annie refused to budge on opening the safe, she was given her new badge and named an official WSB agent. Annie was touched to see that it was the same number Sean used to have.
Afterward, Annie called her mom and realized she’d been in on the plan from afar. Tiffany acknowledged that Sean would be proud of Annie and suggested she could look up at that Christmas star as a reminder. The ABC soap offered some flashbacks along the way as well as a toast to Sean.
In Port Charles, Peter was concerned about “Chloe Jennings” (Kimberly J. Brown) being off packing for the babymoon instead of being there with Maxie.
Bobbie came to Maxie’s place and insisted Maxie wasn’t alone. She urged Peter to leave or be escorted out, so he decided to go willingly – though he told Maxie he’d miss her while she was gone.
Once they were alone, Bobbie wondered what was so urgent and why Maxie needed her to come over. Maxie confessed that she needed Bobbie to deliver her baby and opened up about her Beechers Corners plan.
Bobbie was willing to help with whatever Maxie needed as they shared a warm moment over Maxie having BJ Jones’ (Brighton Hertford) heart. When Bobbie quizzed Maxie about who would take the baby after the delivery, Maxie promised she had it covered.
