General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, May 28, reveals that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) was arrested while Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) suffered a gunshot wound. Nurse “Chloe Jennings” (Kimberly J. Brown) also fell right into Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) trap, so here’s how it all played out on Friday’s drama-filled episode.
At the house in Beechers Corners, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) ran down a checklist and determined everything was ready for a home birth. She just needed the mom-to-be and wondered where Maxie was at.
In the woods, Dr. Austin (Roger Howarth) rubbed Baby Louise a little and encouraged her to meet her mom. Maxie was relieved when Louise eventually started crying, so she took her newborn daughter in her arms and shared a sweet moment with her.
Austin wanted to find cell service and get Maxie to the hospital, but Maxie worried Peter August (Wes Ramsey) would find her. She insisted she had to get to Beechers Corners, but Austin was adamant about getting Maxie checked out first.
As Austin tried to call for an ambulance, “Chloe” came up behind the doc and knocked him out with the fireplace poker. That led to a chase, but Maxie managed to cover a rickety-looking old mine shaft with some rocks and brush.
Maxie stood with the baby and lured Chloe into the trap, so Chloe fell through the cracked wood and was no longer a threat at the bottom of the hole.
That gave Maxie a chance to call Brook Lynn, who was confused but agreed to track Maxie’s phone and come find her.
At GH, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) reassured Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) when he feared he wouldn’t be able to find a cure in time for Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard).
Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) showed up to pass along Sean Donely’s (John Reilly) file in case there was anything useful in it that might help. Liz snapped at Anna for coddling Peter and allowing him to do so much damage.
Over with Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor), he told Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) about Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) taking a bullet in that shootout.
Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry) walked over to question Brando along with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna).
Brando admitted that Cyrus abducted Gladys because she planned to recant her statement regarding Jason. He revealed that Cyrus was going to kill him along with Gladys because he failed his loyalty test.
Brando explained that Cyrus vowed to hurt Sasha if he didn’t kill his mother – and Sasha was visibly affected by that information.
Sasha filled Jordan and Dante in on her pregnancy along with the fact that Cyrus once had a romantic interest in her.
After Brando talked about the shootout and bringing Gladys to the hospital, Sasha convinced Jordan and Curtis to leave it at that for now. Jordan let Dante know that they had more than enough to arrest Cyrus, so she put out an APB on him.
Later, Brando opened up to Sasha about always thinking so negatively about his mom in the past, but she had shaped a lot of his life. Sasha encouraged Brando to tell Gladys that after she woke up from her surgery.
A doctor soon appeared with news as Brando anxiously waited to find out if Gladys was OK. Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) wound up sharing some close moments with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) at The Savoy, which led to a kiss between them.
When Curtis seemed uneasy in the aftermath, Portia panicked over misreading the signals. Curtis assured Portia that if he gave any, that was on him. He mentioned just signing his divorce papers recently, so Portia hurried out despite his pleas to talk through this.
On the pier, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) appeared and warned Cyrus to let Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) go, but Cyrus wanted to take Spinelli as insurance that he’d make it out of there.
Another shootout got underway, which led to Cyrus taking a bullet to the shoulder. Cyrus fled the scene before Dante arrived and eventually placed Jason under arrest.
Portia made it back home, where she found that her door was already unlocked. As Portia cautiously made her way inside, she saw some blood on the floor.
Portia was clearly terrified as she looked over and saw an armed, wounded Cyrus with his greasy hair down. Cyrus eerily welcomed Portia home.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Chase overheard part of Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) conversation. He acknowledged the sacrifices they were having to make for him before collapsing on the floor.
Chase was rushed to GH, so Finn pushed Anna to go get another antidote dose from Peter. As for Willow, she approached Finn to find out what he’d been keeping from Chase about his condition.
