General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Genie Francis will exit as Laura Collins since the GH star revealed she’s taking a break from Port Charles. Francis talked to TV Insider about her summer plans, which include spending some extra time with her family and stepping away from the show for a bit.
Fortunately, Francis isn’t gone for good! This is just a temporary exit, so the popular soap vet will return down the road. In fact, Francis dropped a hint about some exciting storylines that’ll get underway once autumn rolls around.
For now, Francis is taking a well-deserved breather while the drama continues without her.
“I’ve had such a fun time on GH, and I’ve absolutely loved what the writers gave me to work with this season,” Francis said. “And, there are some really great storylines planned for the fall – but for now, I’ve decided to take the summer off.”
No one can blame Francis for making her family the priority and squeezing in as much summer fun as she can!
Many fans will miss Laura in the meantime, but there’ll be plenty of other characters to focus on since the show’s juggling several hot storylines right now.
“I am very much looking forward to spending the time with my family and relaxing a bit,” Francis added. “I promise, though, I will be back to Port Charles before you know it.”
There’s no word yet on the exact details of Genie Francis’ exit as Laura, but we know she’ll unleash her fury on Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) soon enough. Viewers will see major issues in Laura’s marriage based on some info contained in a leaked script.
Those issues will center around some Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) outrage and how Kevin chooses to handle the situation.
Laura will be so furious that she demands a divorce, so it’s safe to say she may take some time to cool off as far away from Kevin as possible!
Laura might visit some loved ones out of town while Kevin sulks in PC without her.
Regardless, Genie Francis is indeed taking a step back from the show, but she’ll reprise her role as Laura and become part of some fantastic action this fall 2021.
