General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that with the news of Emme Rylan’s (Lulu Spencer) move to St. Louis, fans are wondering if a Lulu recast is waking up or if she’ll be stuck in a coma permanently. The show hasn’t revealed the character’s true fate just yet, but they’ve been sending some mixed signals lately.
Laura Collins (Genie Francis) delivered bad news to Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), who learned there’d been no improvement in Lulu’s condition.
There was plenty of talk about moving on, but we also can’t deny that there have been a ton of Lulu mentions. It’s just strange to put so much focus on Lulu if the intention is to never bring her back.
Of course, the show may not even know what they plan to do with Lulu somewhere down the line, so the coma limbo they trapped her in makes sense.
It was a better idea than killing Lulu off since it always leaves the option for her comeback on the table.
In other words, it’s tough to ever really say that Lulu will be in this coma permanently because anyone in a soap coma can wake up many years later.
Just ask Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros)! There’s always hope for Lulu’s return in some form – even if it has to be a recast.
The most likely option is for Dante and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) to develop their romance before complications arise – like the return of alive Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison).
Sam may reunite with Drew and leave Dante heartbroken until his beloved recast Lulu wakes up down the road.
In her recent Instagram stories, Emme Rylan confirmed her family would be living in St. Louis for at least a year – but possibly for good.
Although Rylan still intends to act, she won’t be available for full-time work on GH since they shoot in LA.
Naturally, Rylan’s plans could change, but the show would have to go with a recast if they wanted Lulu around for a substantial arc anytime soon.
For now, General Hospital seems content to let Dante grow closer to Sam while Lulu remains comatose.
