General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Jake Webber (Hudson West) has lost his father, but he could gain a grandpa if Jeff Webber (last played by Richard Dean Anderson) visits over Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) death.
Jeff has already been trying to get in touch with Liz in the aftermath of Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) passing, but he should have even more concerns soon enough. Once the news of Jason’s demise spreads, Jeff may worry about Liz, Jake and the toll this will take on their family.
Jake has had to deal with crisis after crisis in recent years. He was initially confused and upset over Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) return from the dead since it meant Drew Cain (now played by Cameron Mathison) wasn’t the real Jason.
Jake had to adjust to the idea of a different Jason being his dad, but they managed to form a bond in time. When Jason was accused of Franco’s murder, Jake believed in his father’s innocence and was quick to stand up for him.
Despite not showing much of their father-son bond onscreen, GH offered enough scenes to prove Jake and Jason loved each other. Although Jake will no doubt be glad Uncle Drew is home safe and sound, it’ll be a devastating blow to lose Jason all over again.
This comes on the heels of losing Franco, who filled that fatherly role for Jake even more than Jason did. It’s just too much loss for Jake, who’s becoming a young man and perhaps needs male guidance more than ever.
Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) is a fantastic mom, but her father may decide to take matters into his own hands and come to town whether she likes it or not. Jeff might be determined to get to know Jake as well as Liz’s other boys and Violet Finn (Jophielle Love).
Liz loved Jason once as well and always knew she could rely on him for anything. It’ll be a difficult blow for Liz too, so Jeff might decide he simply can’t stay away – not when Liz’s family is dealing with yet another round of tragedy. Jeff seems like he wants to make amends, but will Liz give him the chance?
