General Hospital (GH) spoilers state that Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones) is recovering from brain surgery and has revealed she’ll be taking several weeks off work so she can heal. Storms posted some new Instagram stories to explain the situation and fill fans in on what she’s been up against.
In a series of videos shot in a car, Storms admitted this wasn’t something she’d spoken about at all yet. She let everyone know that less than 48 hours from the time of posting, she had brain surgery. Storms was wearing a neck brace in the clips, so she noted the surgery was the reason why.
Emme Rylan (ex-Lulu Spencer) is Storms’ real-life bestie, so she was featured in the video and has been taking great care of her. Storms has an at-home nurse who’ll be helping as well, but Rylan was more than willing to step up for her friend in her time of need.
Rylan cracked some jokes with Storms, who was in good spirits despite not feeling very well following her hospital ordeal. Storms had the surgery on the lower portion of her brain and wanted to clear a few things up about it so that people wouldn’t panic.
“What they had to drain and remove was not cancer,” Storms said. “I want to clarify that right now before the Internet goes crazy wild with rumors about this. I had a very large cyst that had split into two.”
The doctor had to open up Storms’ skull and relieve the pressure, so Storms underwent surgery and spent a few days recovering in the hospital. Now Storms will be resting at home and trying to recuperate so she can get back to General Hospital.
“I will be on the mend for the next several weeks, but I will be back at work when this is over with,” Storms promised. Rylan teased Storms about how she was entitled to “take a moment” after brain surgery and assured fans that Storms still loved yarn.
Storms admitted she’d be using this time off to knit, so it’s nice to see her staying positive and having some fun with Rylan despite the unfortunate circumstances. As other GH news comes in, we’ll pass along updates.
