General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) recently posted a preview of Sonny’s return and revenge, so let’s talk about what fans can expect. Playing “Mike” in Nixon Falls has given Benard a chance to do something different and stretch himself as an actor, but he knows what viewers want!
Plenty of GH watchers are anxiously awaiting the return of the one and only Sonny Corinthos. “Mike” is a fun version of the character, but he’s not the classic mob boss that fans have come to know and love.
Since Benard has been bombarded with messages about when the real Sonny will make a comeback, he decided to offer up a little teaser in a tweet.
Benard brought a photo over from his Instagram account that featured Sonny looking confident in a suit.
“Sonny soon! And he won’t be sitting down,” Maurice Benard offered as his caption.
Of course, this gives fans two great promises since it reveals Sonny is indeed coming back soon – and it tells us he’ll ultimately resume that powerful persona we’ve come to expect. No more Mr. Nice Guy!
Naturally, there might be an adjustment period depending on how fast Sonny gets his memories back and how quickly he adapts to his old life.
There’s also the matter of Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) new marriage and growing feelings for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), so Sonny can’t just pick up where he left off – even if he wanted to. Everyone will have a lot of complex emotions to sort out.
Nevertheless, Sonny will eventually get his usual dark swagger back and show Port Charles who’s boss.
The enemies who have schemed against the Corinthos organization in Sonny’s absence could pay a steep price for it.
Sonny will no doubt take care of business in more ways than one, so there’ll be some gripping drama to look forward to.
As for Sonny’s relationship with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), will he struggle to turn his feelings off despite her deception?
Time will tell, but “CarSon” is the endgame couple to root for here. It’ll be a long and winding road, but Carly and Sonny should find their way back to each other at some point.
