General Hospital Spoilers: Monday, December 20 Recap – Victor Behind Laura Murder Plot – Cyrus’ Angel Story

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, December 20, reveals that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) told an angel story and made an assassin denial. Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) was also revealed as the man behind the murder plot on Laura Collins (Genie Francis), though it was really his plan to flush her out!

First on Monday’s GH episode, Laura talked to her deputy mayor over the phone before paying Cyrus a visit in prison.

Cyrus was elated to see Laura until she mentioned the assassin at the safe house being his last shot at revenge.

This seemingly concerned Cyrus a great deal as he sought reassurance that Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) was all right, too.

Despite Laura’s accusations, Cyrus insisted he wasn’t behind the attack on Laura and Martin’s lives.

Cyrus mentioned having a cold that turned into pneumonia, which left him deathly ill.

Cyrus claimed an angel appeared to him and brought him peace until he woke up without the fever he’d been suffering from. That led to Cyrus reading the Bible and trying to avoid the road of temptation.

Cyrus kept trying to sell Laura on the idea that he’d given his life over to a higher power, but she laughed and rolled her eyes throughout the conversation.

Even so, Cyrus quoted scripture and urged Laura to believe he was on a better path.

Laura decided she was done with this charade and started to leave, but Cyrus frantically called out to her. He warned Laura was in real danger since he wasn’t behind the threat.

At Kelly’s, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) was surprised when Victor stopped by and wanted to get to know him better.

Victor offered to do everything in his power to make Spencer’s legal issues go away and hoped to put him up in a Metro Court room along with Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl).

Spencer was thrilled for the legal assistance, but he hesitated on the hotel offer since he wanted to show Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) he could make it on his own.

However, Victor didn’t see the difference in Spencer staying at the Metro Court and staying with Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom).

After Victor warned against equating struggle with virtue, Spencer agreed to talk to Esme about it.

Once Victor was outside the restaurant, he met with Laura’s deputy mayor. She was clearly working for Victor, who was pleased to learn Laura was coming home.

Victor smiled over his hired assassin flushing Laura out – just as he planned. He mentioned how he considered Laura a worthy adversary.

At the Quartermaine mansion, some sizzling looks were exchanged as Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) thought back on getting trapped in the steam room.

When Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) came in the kitchen, they mentioned not getting much sleep because of Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) and Sasha Gilmore’s (Sofia Mattsson) loss.

Once Michael took off, Willow stepped out on the patio and was joined by Chase at Brook Lynn’s urging.

Willow reflected on the loss of her own baby and accepted Chase’s comforting embrace as Brook Lynn spotted them through the window.

Later, Chase pretended to hear “Bailey Quartermaine” aka Louise August crying, but he really just wanted to give Willow and Brook Lynn a chance to talk alone.

That led to Willow apologizing for her earlier treatment of Brook Lynn, who was understanding – though she continued to look guilty over the “Bailey” secret.

While Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was talking to Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) at Charlie’s Pub, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) interrupted.

That led to a quick conversation about Peter August (Wes Ramsey) and how he wouldn’t be a problem, but Sonny clarified that it was best if Peter remained in limbo for now.

After Sonny headed out, Phyllis asked if Nina was still in love with him.

Nina didn’t think her feelings mattered since Sonny was back with Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright), but Phyllis explained she wasn’t talking about pursuing Sonny or interfering in his marriage.

Phyllis just thought Nina needed to come to grips with her feelings and try to move on with her life.

At the Metro Court, Carly was taken aback when Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) sought her out. Liesl was sorry about Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) since he was a good man who saved her life along with Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud).

Once Michael met up with Carly, they tried to accept the blows the universe had dealt while still embracing the miracles.

The discussion eventually shifted to Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) since Michael spotted him with Selina Wu (Lydia Look) following his prison release.

At another table with Liesl, Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) confessed his fears about Nina’s preliminary hearing and how now was the time to get the case thrown out.

Scott wished he had more of an angle to work and spewed his drink when Obrecht confessed she thought Nina and Sonny had fallen in love.

Scott assumed Carly didn’t know or else she would’ve destroyed Nina for it.

Liesl warned they had to keep this quiet for Nina’s sake, but Scott decided to rattle Sonny’s cage once he was with Carly and Michael.

Sonny thought Scott should say whatever it was he had to say, but Scott simply argued that the DA would see through the trumped-up charges.

Once Scott was alone with Obrecht again, he argued that he had to use this secret to keep Nina out of prison.

Scott figured Sonny would lie on the stand, but he hoped he could convince Nina to tell the truth about their Nixon Falls relationship under oath.

Since Sonny was perhaps still in love with Nina, Scott thought he could convince the judge this reeked of prosecutorial overreach.

Scott also mentioned needing to find someone else who knew what happened during Sonny’s time away.

Back with Sonny and Carly, they warned Michael not to push Selina’s buttons. Carly felt like Selina could make a move, force Sonny to retaliate and eventually launch another mob war.

Sonny backed Carly up on urging Michael to stay out of it and made it clear he’d handle things on his own.

General Hospital spoilers say Sonny’s problems will get worse before they get better, so stay tuned!
