General Hospital Spoilers: Monday, February 1 Recap – Carly Slaps Valentin – Ava Accepts Proposal – Anna’s Onto Obrecht

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, February 1, reveal that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) visited with Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) in his office at GH.

Anna told Finn about how Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) showed her Dante Falconeri’s (Dominick Zamprogna) redacted medical records, and how Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) was treated by the same doctor as Dante.

Anna got on the phone and learned that Liesl had been transferred from Steinmauer to a WSB clinic months ago. Anna and Finn wondered whether Liesl had killed Dr. Warren Kirk (Jamison Jones) and whether she was even at the WSB facility any longer. “She has a daughter,” Anna mused.

Elsewhere in the hospital, Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) talked with Laura Collins (Genie Francis) about Dante’s condition. Soon, Laura noted that Nikolas seemed much happier lately. Nicolas credited Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West), and he disclosed that he had asked Ava to marry him for real.

Laura was surprised, and she wondered if Nikolas trusted Ava. Nikolas said that he did, and Laura could see how happy Ava made Nikolas. Ultimately, Laura said that she was happy for Nikolas. Nikolas then revealed that Ava hadn’t exactly said yes to his proposal.

Over at Kelly’s, Ava met with Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) and they talked briefly about Trina’s feelings for Marcus Taggert (Asante Jones). Trina indicated that she wasn’t yet ready to see her dad.

Meanwhile, over at the counter, Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and Cameron Webber (William Lipton) were talking when Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) walked in.

Franco told Scott and Cameron about the article in The Invader and how Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) tried to kill him today. Cameron thought that perhaps Franco should get a bodyguard. Cameron and Trina went off together, and Scott left as Ava approached the counter to talk with Franco.

Ava wondered if it was Franco who defaced her portrait last year, and Franco said that it could have been. Ava said that she was worried about Franco, and Franco turned the conversation to Ava and her marriage.

Ava explained that Nikolas proposed at the gym and that it just didn’t seem right. Franco urged Ava to get out of her own way and find happiness.

In the kitchen, Cameron and Trina discussed how Alexis had stabbed Dante with a syringe meant for Franco. Cameron thought that The Invader article was egging people onto be afraid of Franco.

Later, Cameron told Trina that he was going to do something – and that no matter what, he was going to keep his family safe.

At Scott’s apartment, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) arrived to see Liesl, apparently having followed her there. Britt recounted how Peter August (Wes Ramsey) used her to access Franco’s medical records and then threatened her. That outraged Liesl, but she wanted Britt to stay out of Peter’s way.

Soon, Scott returned home, and Britt was amused that Liesl was staying with him. “We’ve joined together against Peter,” Liesl said. After Britt took off, Scott and Liesl rehashed how Scott killed Dr. Kirk, and Liesl called Geneva and learned that Kevin had accessed her and Dante’s medical records.

Liesl assumed that Anna was behind this.

At the Metro Court, Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) told Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) that he suspected months ago that Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) was her daughter.

Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) interjected that Nelle could have stolen the half-heart pendant, and Nina agreed, but she was upset that Jax didn’t tell her the truth from the get-go.

“I believed Nelle was your daughter, which is why I didn’t tell you,” Jax said. Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) reminded Nina that Jax had gotten her to stop looking for her daughter. “This has nothing to do with you!” Carly fumed.

Jax attempted to take Nina aside and tell her that he did this because he loves her, but Valentin pointed out that it was no different than what HE had done for Nina out of love.

Carly said that it was not the same, and that Jax didn’t want Nina to know that her daughter was a psycho. Nina took offense, ranting that Nelle was damaged, and that she wasn’t a psycho.

Carly said none of that was true, and that Nelle had attacked Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Briana Lane) and kidnapped Wiley Quartermaine Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson).

Valentin said that Nelle was a manipulator and that she could have planned to pretend to be Nina’s daughter. Nina then remembered that she had a box of Nelle’s things at Crimson, and she rushed off, telling Jax not to come with her.

Jax took off after Nina anyway, and Valentin needled Carly about how now she could get Jax back since Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) was gone. Carly slapped Valentin.

At Crimson, Nina got out Nelle’s box of belongings and started going through them. Jax came in, but Nina wanted nothing to do with him. Nina took out Nelle’s keepsake box and found some old photographs in it, including one of Nelle as a child wearing the half heart necklace.

“She didn’t steal it from anyone – it was hers,” Nina sobbed. Jax tried to comfort Nina, but Nina yelled at him to go. Jax said that he’d never give up. Nina continued to cry and clutch the photograph of Nelle.

Back at the hospital, Finn paged Britt to get her to sign some form, then he broached the topic of Liesl, while Anna eavesdropped around the corner. Finn rattled off all the horrible things that Liesl was accused of, and Britt said that her mother didn’t do those things.

Finn fished for whether Britt had been in contact with her mom, but Britt ended up just signing the form and walking off.

Finn and Anna regrouped, and they deduced that perhaps Liesl wasn’t at the WSB clinic anymore. Anna thought that Liesl may have been released. Elsewhere in the hospital, Nikolas and Laura continued their conversation. Nikolas revealed that he had a ring made for Ava, and that he wanted to propose properly.

Just then, Ava rushed up to Laura and Nikolas and blurted out, “Yes!” Ava said that Nikolas had asked her a question before and that she was ready to answer it, and that her answer was yes.

Nikolas got down on one knee and made a nice proposal speech to Ava. “Will you marry me again for real?” Nikolas asked. “Yes!” Ava said happily.
