General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) may expose Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) love in court if he ends up accepting Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) ammo. Will this become a crucial part of Scott’s legal strategy?
GH fans know Liesl wants Nina to fight for her life instead of cowering in a corner. She’s not about to let Nina go to prison if she can help it and remembered something important on the December 9 episode.
When Scott expressed confusion over Sonny’s reluctance to go after Nina, he suggested maybe part of Sonny was still “Mike” the “bumpkin bartender.”
That was enough to help Liesl recall Nina’s story about having someone new in her life named “Mike” during a trip home from Nixon Falls.
Although Obrecht hasn’t shared this connection with Scott yet, she may ultimately come clean.
Scott is determined to find out the reason Sonny’s going easy on Nina since it could be so crucial to the case. It could give Scott a strategy to focus on and perhaps offer a path to freedom for Nina.
Liesl is just as concerned about Nina’s future and may decide this has to come out for her own good.
During the week of December 20-24, Obrecht will apply pressure to her main squeeze. There’ll be something Liesl wants Scott to do, so she’ll try to push him into it.
That could be as simple as pushing Scott to get Nina off the hook, but it could also be more specific. Perhaps Obrecht will admit Sonny’s not going after Nina because he fell in love with her in Nixon Falls. If so, Scott might find himself with a tough decision to make for a couple reasons.
There’s a chance bringing that up in court could backfire and make it seem like yet another way Nina committed identity fraud.
However, Scott might also imagine it looking like the situation was far more complicated than it seems on paper.
Scott could frame this as a story of forbidden love – and that’s definitely a more sympathetic tale than the vengeful one Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) wants to make this out to be.
It’s possible Scott will blindside Nina by using this tactic as a last resort in court. Scott may drop the bomb while grilling Nina or even Sonny on the stand.
Whatever the case, Nina’s preliminary hearing is sure to bring plenty of surprises!
