General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) broken marriage could be hard to fix, especially since their respective desires for Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and especially Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) will complicate this “CarSon” reunion.
Sonny is furious with Nina for hiding his true identity, but that doesn’t mean he’s done with her.
Nina and Sonny’s love may have been based on secrets and lies, but there was still a connection between two people. Sonny has his memories back and is a new person entirely, but that doesn’t erase what happened.
There’s a thin line between love and hate anyway, so there’s certainly the potential for Sonny to burn for Nina!
Sonny can’t just forget all the close moments he’s shared with Nina in Nixon Falls – and that could present a real problem.
Carly’s going to be in the same boat now that she’s crossed the point of no return with Jason. They’ve officially moved out of the friend zone and made a commitment to a real marriage, not just one of convenience.
This is a full-fledged romance that Jason and Carly are ready to explore together as husband and wife.
That’s going to make things awkward when Sonny reenters the picture, particularly since Carly may struggle to let go of the new life she was planning with Jason.
Carly made peace with Sonny’s passing, so it’ll be hard to get used to the idea of him being alive again.
Although part of Carly will be over the moon, another part of her may grieve the loss of what might’ve been.
Carly is falling in love with Jason, so she can’t just switch her feelings off.
As thrilled as Carly will be to have Sonny back, a little piece of her will wonder what her life would’ve been like if Jason had remained her future.
It’s easy to see how both Carly and Sonny could be hung up on their new loves – preventing them from fully reconnecting with their old ones right away.
This could even spark some cheating depending on where GH writers want to take the storyline next.
Regardless, divorce or at least the threat of it could be on the table as we head into Sonny’s return arc.
Sonny and Carly will have to put some real work into repairing this marriage if they want to save it.
That’s especially true since Sonny will come home on Carly and Jason’s wedding night to kick off the drama!
