General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) may turn sinister in his fight to reclaim the mob throne. Will the violent anti “Mike” go too far in his quest to show everyone Sonny is back and more powerful than ever?
Sonny was understandably livid with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) over her deception, so we already got to see some flashes of his fierce side.
Sonny will need that side of himself as he works to put himself back on top in the mob world as well, but it could also get him in trouble.
For months, Sonny had no memory and was somewhat powerless as a result. It’s true that “Mike” had some “take charge” moments in Nixon Falls, but he was in the dark on who he was and trapped in a way.
“Mike” was essentially under Nina’s control since she chose not to reveal who he was and what was waiting for him back home.
Of course, things have changed now that Sonny has remembered his history. Sonny has his power back and can make decisions based on all the facts. “Mike” hated crime, but Sonny has no problem with it.
Since we’ve got the real Sonny back in action, he might overcompensate a bit. Sonny may be eager to prove – perhaps mostly to himself – that he’s shedding that gentle persona.
It could lead to some disturbing and even reckless moves as Sonny reenters the dangerous mob world.
Sonny will have to prove to the five families that he’s the one running the show again.
Sonny may also have to deal with the vengeful Novak and Buscema families now that Vincent Novak (Glenn Taranto) and Mr. Charles Buscema (Burt Tangredi) have been blown up.
The marriage situation with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) could further influence this fierce side of Sonny.
So much was taken from Sonny during his time away that he could go off the rails in reclaiming his rightful mob spot.
Bottom line, there’s the potential for Sonny to go overboard in proving he’s not docile “Mike” and showing everyone who’s boss!
