General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) is setting herself up for even more trouble. Nina made a decision in a moment of anger that’s bound to come back to bite her.
Nina was all set to spill the truth about Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) survival to Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) until Carly started spewing threats over the phone.
That led Nina to retaliate by insisting Carly had made her bed and would have to lie in it alone. Nina’s been keeping Carly in the dark on “Mike” ever since, but she can’t get by with this forever.
Whether Sonny’s memories return or his identity is exposed another way, the jig will be up for Nina sooner or later.
Nina will no doubt pay the price for keeping such a massive secret and manipulating “Mike” during her time in Nixon Falls. This could certainly cause Sonny to turn against Nina for her deception, no matter how close they might get between now and then.
If Sonny stands with Carly and the rest of the angry Corinthos family, Nina’s going to need an ally. Who will back Nina up down the road?
Since lies about Nelle Benson’s (Chloe Lanier) death kicked off this Carly and Nina conflict, perhaps things will come full circle with Nelle’s big return.
There are some good reasons to think Nelle might still be alive since we never saw her body in the morgue. GH writers have also thrown in some Nelle mentions lately.
Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) was initially uneasy about Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) plot to fake her baby girl’s death. At first, the move seemed a little too Nelle Benson-ish for Britt’s taste!
Carly also compared Nina to Nelle after that weird conversation on the phone. Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) objected to Nina being put in the same category as his nightmare ex, but Carly was unsettled. She admitted she didn’t think Nina belonged in the same category either until that moment.
General Hospital writers are definitely trying to remind us of Nelle and play up this “like mother, like daughter” idea. Since Nina will eventually find herself in hot water following this “Mike” plot, it’d be a good opportunity to get Nelle back in the action.
Nina can still lean on people like Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) and Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), but none of them will pack the same punch.
It’s Nelle who hates Carly just as much as Nina and would be the best person to form an alliance with.
Not to mention it’s just cruel to rob Nina of a chance to bond with her daughter! Nelle needs to make a comeback and finally give Nina the child she’s wanted for years, even if she’s a problematic one.
Nelle could return from the dead and make amends with Nina so they could stand against Carly together. It could bring a mutual fight for time with Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson).
General Hospital spoilers say Nina’s secret will blow up down the road, so that could set the stage for Nelle’s return and a mother-daughter dynamic duo. We’ll offer updates as other GH news becomes available.
