General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) needs more help if he’s going to get back to his family. Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) and Lenny Caulfield (Rif Hutton) have been doing their best to deal with “Mike” and his bipolar symptoms.
Unfortunately, Sonny overheard Phyllis talking to Lenny about his potential diagnosis and took off.
What’s next for Sonny? He clearly can’t survive out there in this manic state with no memories and no money. Sonny needs a job and a roof over his head, so he’ll either have to find someone else to help him or return to Lenny’s bar.
The latter seems more likely since they’ve already built this nice bar set and made Phyllis such a major part of the story.
That Phyllis connection seems like a huge deal and will likely connect to Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) story down the road. In the meantime, Phyllis may convince Lenny that they have to look for Sonny. Lenny might go against his own judgment to do what his wife asks and look around for “Mike” in the area.
Of course, it’s also possible that Sonny will just realize Phyllis and Lenny are right – that he needs medication to deal with an obvious problem. Sonny might agree to get tested and ultimately go on the bipolar meds he needs.
This seems like part of the story that GH writers will want to work through fairly fast since the bigger drama lies in Sonny trying to get his memories back.
During the week of February 1-5, General Hospital spoilers say Sonny will wonder who he really is. He’ll undoubtedly reflect on that watch inscription as well as his wedding band. You can bet Sonny will think long and hard in hopes of remembering something about his old life.
Could this be when Sonny has his first memory flashes? It seems likely that Sonny will indeed remember some small snippets of his past at some point. Perhaps Sonny could recall one of his weddings to Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) without remembering her face.
It’d be easy for Sonny’s wedding ring to trigger a memory like that.
Then again, Sonny might come to realize that Mike is actually his father. The watch inscription might bring some realization that helps Sonny’s put that part of the puzzle together. Anything would be a nice start as Sonny tries to figure out the past he unintentionally left behind.
