General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is poised to make a surprise return to Port Charles, so “Mike” could shock Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and force Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) secret out in the open. Let’s look at the tricky situation Nina’s created and the drama it’s setting up.
Nina made the decision to hide the truth about Sonny’s survival and has now fallen hard for “Mike.” She might’ve gotten away with it if she’d been more discreet about the details of her life, but she’s obviously made some big mistakes.
Everyone who knows Nina realizes she’s been spending time in Nixon Falls, so she’s linked to where Sonny’s been hiding out. More importantly, Sonny knows Nina lives in Port Charles and can head there if he gets impatient.
Sonny has expressed doubts about Nina even returning to Nixon Falls, so there’s certainly the potential for him to make a surprise appearance in PC – especially with Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) and Lenny Caulfield (Rif Hutton) encouraging it.
They don’t want to see “Mike” and Nina let this chance at love slip away.
When you think about it, Sonny showing back up in Port Charles out of the blue is the most dramatic option.
It’d be fine for one person who knows Sonny to find him in Nixon Falls and rat Nina out, but that’s not going to have a lot of impact – not like if Sonny makes a very public comeback and stuns half the town!
A better option would be for Sonny to catch a PC flight without giving Nina a heads-up. “Mike” might decide to preserve the surprise and make this a grand romantic gesture.
Of course, if Sonny inadvertently crashes some large gathering, that’ll be even better.
Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) has a graduation party coming up that’ll serve as an unofficial opening to The Savoy before the real one. It looks like Nina may wind up attending that along with plenty of other people connected to Sonny.
That might be an option for Sonny’s reentrance to Port Charles, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
Regardless, Sonny will probably resurface in a very public way and grow confused when everyone seems to know who he is. The jig will soon be up for Nina, so she’d better be ready for backlash.
