General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Thursday, April 22, reveals that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) continued to worry about Elijah Crowe (Dan White) and the threat he posed.
Nina wanted Sonny to stop with all the Elijah grumbling, but he was concerned for Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy), Lenny Caulfield (Rif Hutton) and Nina. “Mike” wondered what kind of friend he’d be if he didn’t have Nina’s back.
Sonny told Nina about Elijah being arrested for embezzlement, but Elijah walked over to defend himself. “Mike” felt like if Elijah had been innocent, he would’ve done everything he could to clear his name. Elijah argued that a settlement was cheaper than going to court since he was already out of money.
Elijah added that he hit rock bottom and had been working toward restitution. He wondered if Sonny had never derailed his life so badly that he had to bend over backwards to get it back on track. Elijah sarcastically suggested he forgot that “Mike” couldn’t remember his old life.
Sonny kept at it and asked why Nina trusted this guy. That’s when Nina finally blurted out something she shouldn’t have! Nina asked who was “Mike” to judge after everything he’d done.
Nina was forced to cover by pointing out that Sonny couldn’t remember and shouldn’t be judging without knowing his own mistakes.
Meanwhile, Phyllis scolded Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) for putting more pressure on Nina through his presence in Nixon Falls. Jax was given an introduction to Lenny and made a strong case for why he should be allowed to speak with Nina.
Lenny eventually suggested Nina could decide for herself – GH fans suddenly saw Nina looking panicked nearby. Nina quickly took Jax aside and insisted he was upsetting her even more by coming there. She felt Jax should leave since he was going to ruin everything!
Sonny reflected on Nina’s comment about not knowing what he’d done in the past and opened up to Nina. A suspicious-looking man soon appeared at the firehouse dance and had a gun on him.
In the cemetery, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) visited Nathan West’s (Ryan Paevey) grave in her “secret widow getup.” She suggested she was in trouble – and not the normal kind.
Maxie admitted she’d never felt so trapped and went on a long tirade about Peter August (Wes Ramsey) being one big illusion.
Maxie suggested that it turned out Peter was Heirik Faison all along. She said Peter was the biggest liar on the planet, but she insisted the biggest lie of all was convincing herself Peter was a good and decent man.
Maxie felt she couldn’t condemn her daughter to life where Peter was her father. She said if keeping her baby safe meant giving her up and pretending she was dead, then that’s what Maxie would do. Nearby, Olivia looked emotional as she watched and overheard Maxie’s declaration.
At GH, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) paid Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) a visit, which led to them teasing each other as usual. Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) eventually joined them, but he sent Brook Lynn out by claiming her bodyguard was looking for her.
Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) discussed how much they wanted to make a home together, but they knew they couldn’t do it with Chase in such bad shape.
Michael agreed Chase’s health had to come first, so he was willing to wait as long as it took to be with Willow.
Brook Lynn even popped over to talk about how Willow was the only thing keeping Chase going. After Willow returned to Chase’s side, Brook Lynn noticed how glum Michael looked and wondered if he had something to tell her.
Willow was right by Chase’s side as he experienced another burst of pain. Although Willow wanted to get a doctor, Chase pushed her to stay. Just seeing Willow’s face was helping Chase feel better.
Over with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), she told Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) that Chase had been poisoned by Peter. Finn learned that he was the intended target before Anna passed along the crushed vial shards.
Anna felt like Peter’s grandstanding might backfire if Finn could use what was left in the vial to recreate an antidote.
Finn suggested it was probably water and more lies from Peter. He wanted to go to the cops, but Anna explained why Finn couldn’t. Anna wanted to help and refused to let Chase die, but Finn flew into a rage and warned her not to come anywhere near his son.
Finn felt he should’ve listened when Anna tried to push him away. “Your world and psychotic family have literally poisoned mine!” Finn shouted. He suggested Anna should pray that he can recreate the antidote to her nephew’s poison and stormed off.
At the Corinthos home, Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry) wanted Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) to stay out of her way. Carly pushed for a ballpark on when Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) would be back behind bars.
Jordan insisted it would happen, but Carly needed more than Jordan’s word if she expected Carly to just sit on her hands.
After they established that they were on the same side against Cyrus, Carly urged Jordan to watch her back – and Jordan insisted Carly should do the same.
At Pentonville, Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore) said he heard that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) finally took out Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth). Jason asked if that’s what “they” were saying.
Shawn eventually made cryptic comments about how Sonny was gone and Cyrus wasn’t. He argued that when power shifts, a man has to consider his best interests.
Shawn suggested if he needed to do something about Renault, then he’d have to handle it himself – and he pulled out a knife.
On Thursday’s General Hospital episode, Shawn was restrained by the guard and claimed he had to do it for protection. Nearby, Jason was on the floor bleeding from a stab wound.
Shawn got on the phone with Carly afterward to let her know Jason was headed to GH, so Carly was grateful and said she’d take it from here.
