General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, December 8, reveals that a hitwoman tried to strangle Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) while Peter August (Wes Ramsey) claimed to have a secret recording of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Let’s talk about how all Wednesday’s GH drama went down.
At the safe house, Martin enjoyed some hummingbird cake with Laura Collins (Genie Francis) before opening the door and giving the agent outside a piece.
The fake cleaning lady was back with a laundry basket and heard Martin’s name as confirmation that he was inside.
Martin had a surprise for Laura and revealed that he wanted to watch Christina Comes Home for Christmas, but Laura thought it’d bring back too many painful memories.
Laura wanted to go home and nearly decided to, but Martin convinced her to stay put and avoid doing anything stupid.
Martin convinced Laura to have a long bath and a drink while he stayed in the living room to watch the movie.
After the hitwoman disguised as a housekeeper came in with the laundry, she snuck up behind Martin while he was munching on popcorn and enjoying the movie.
The hitwoman retrieved a cord she’d hidden and quickly wrapped it around Martin’s neck, so his popcorn bowl went flying as he fought to escape her tight grasp.
Meanwhile, Sonny sat with Peter in the PCPD interrogation room and insisted he’d pay a deadly price for Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) demise.
Peter tried to act like he had a secret recording of Nina and Sonny together in Nixon Falls – one that included them kissing. He claimed to have the thumb drive in a vault that would be opened upon his death.
Sonny argued that even if Peter did have such a recording, it wouldn’t save him. This was much bigger than Nixon Falls since Peter was responsible for Jason dying in that cave-in.
Sonny provoked Peter with talk of Louise August (London and Jett Prinzo-Berendt) and admitted he wanted to make Peter squirm. He liked the idea of Peter hearing footsteps approaching his cell and wondering if it’d be the night he died.
Sonny made it clear that he’d be the one responsible and that Peter would be shown no mercy. Before Sonny left, he told Peter to have a nice life – or what was left of it!
At GH, Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) and Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) had a special request for Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) that involved Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen), too.
They wanted Michael and Willow to be Liam Corbin’s godparents, so Michael happily accepted on behalf of them both.
Over with Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs), she got emotional over the baby in the NICU and accepted Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) embrace.
Gladys thought “Liam” was such a lackluster, millennial name and figured it was probably Sasha’s idea. She would’ve preferred something as rugged and distinguished as Brando, but they didn’t listen to any of her ideas.
Gladys thought the baby looked like Brando as well, but Carly saw both parents in him. She felt Liam had inherited a fighting spirit and listened as Gladys reflected on being a young incapable mom to Brando.
Gladys had a lot of regrets, especially since she turned her back on Brando during his drug ordeal. She wondered how a mom could let everyone believe her son was dead and feared Liam’s situation was punishment, but Carly insisted that wasn’t true.
Gladys wanted to be there for all Liam’s firsts and do things right as a grandma.
Afterward, Gladys got updates from Brando on Sasha’s troubles during labor. Although Gladys was eager to find out when Liam could go home, Brando pointed out that they had to get results and learn his prognosis first.
After Willow stepped into a private office with Nina, she confirmed that she heard all about Nina’s pure love for Sonny and how she had no regrets.
Willow wondered if Nina had been sneaking around with Sonny all this time and demanded to know if they were having an affair.
Nina denied it and clarified that it didn’t get that far in Nixon Falls either. She talked about getting caught up with “Mike” and how it was tough to let that new life go.
Nina insisted that Sonny was with Carly, who was his wife and the woman he truly loved. Although Nina didn’t see any point in the truth coming out, Willow wasn’t sure what she was going to do when she stomped off.
When Willow found Michael and Carly, Michael let her know they’d been asked to be Liam’s godparents. Carly talked about the importance of family while Nina lurked around the corner.
As for Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth), they traded news on their recent Peter encounters.
Maxie was worried about Peter seeing Austin as a rival for her affections and didn’t like the idea of him being her delusional ex’s doctor.
However, Austin was more concerned about Maxie and offered an apology for being harsh before about Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton).
Austin didn’t get why Maxie was so stuck on the paternity situation, but he could tell she was close with Brook Lynn for some reason.
Austin was hopeful about being friends, so Maxie decided they could indeed be that.
Afterward, Maxie cornered Sonny and found out he’d just been to see her evil former flame. She asked if Sonny was going to kill Peter and anxiously awaited his response.
General Hospital spoilers say Peter had better watch his back with all these enemies swirling around in Port Charles.
