General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, July 14, reveals that Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) vowed to contest Edward Quartermaine’s (John Ingle) will. Meanwhile, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) all made plans to head to the same New York hospital.
At Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) place, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) made Nina promise to keep the secret she was about to spill.
Nina was stunned as Maxie admitted there was never a “Bailey Quartermaine” – that she gave Louise August (Harper and Scarlett Bloom) to Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) in hopes of keeping her safe from Peter August (Wes Ramsey).
Maxie confirmed that Brook Lynn was never pregnant and that Valentin wasn’t in the loop on any of this. Nina thought Valentin would keep the secret and prove helpful if he was told.
Nina hated to see Valentin end up any more heartbroken, but Maxie was more concerned with Louise’s safety than Valentin’s feelings.
Nina assured Maxie that she’d keep her promise and wouldn’t spill the secret to anyone. Meanwhile, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) tossed the Cassadine name around while she still could over the phone.
Ava was frustrated over the launch to Spoon Island being held up and angrily wondered who had more right to that launch than she did.
At Wyndemere, Spencer Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) embraced Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and talked about how he wanted his return to Port Charles to be a surprise.
Spencer eventually extended a handshake as a peace offering to Nikolas, who pulled his son into a hug.
Nikolas admitted he was staying at the Metro Court since he wasn’t sure how his return would be received. Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) assured Spencer that Wyndemere was his home, but Spencer hinted that Nikolas wasn’t the problem.
Ava eventually arrived and found out Spencer had caused the launch holdup. Spencer acted surprised about the divorce and suggested he would’ve come home to support his father sooner if he’d known.
Ava got updates on her stuff being moved out and shared a tender moment with Nikolas over a piece of jewelry he’d once given her. She hoped that Spencer’s return would bring Nikolas comfort.
Ava stepped aside with Laura, who assured her that she’d bring the stalker to justice.
As for Spencer, he bickered with Nikolas about Ava briefly. However, Spencer confessed that he missed Nikolas along with Laura and knew he was needed back in PC.
In Nixon Falls, Sonny found out that Lenny Caulfield’s (Rif Hutton) “old ticker” was getting worse. Lenny seemed resigned about his condition, but Sonny refused to give up – and Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) agreed Lenny had to keep fighting.
After Phyllis went off to do some cardiologist research, Lenny scolded Sonny for offering his wife false hope. He pointed out specialists would cost money and pile on the debt after he was dead.
Sonny felt like Phyllis was just trying to keep the best part of her life around. He didn’t want Lenny to worry about the money and planned to find a way to make this happen.
Later, Phyllis returned with the perfect second opinion for Lenny. There was an amazing cardiologist at New York Methodist Hospital, so Phyllis and Sonny resolved to take Lenny there.
Back in Port Charles, Austin confirmed that his parents were Charity Gatlin (Gloria Carlin) and Jimmy Lee Holt (Steve Bond).
Jimmy Lee was an illegitimate Quartermaine, so Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) piped up that Edward was explicit about cutting Jimmy Lee and his descendants out of the will.
However, Austin pointed out that he planned to contest the will and had Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) hand over all the necessary proof.
Austin revealed that Jimmy Lee died six months ago and intended to let a judge decide what his rights were – not any of the Quartermaines in that room.
Valentin seemed pleased since this meant the CEO vote couldn’t proceed. He didn’t think they should move forward with it until this matter was settled.
Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) agreed with Valentin for once and suggested they needed all the facts.
Austin assured the gang that he wasn’t there to take anything from them. He just wanted vindication for his father and his rightful seat at the table.
At GH, Anna talked to the security chief about tracking down Peter’s helicopter pilot, David Hopkins. Afterward, Anna and Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) discussed Violet Finn (Jophielle Love) as well as navigating their relationship as exes.
Finn was sorry for being so hard on Anna before and now understood that the truth was sometimes complicated.
Anna thanked Finn for saying so, but she wondered what changed. Finn seemed tempted to confess the story of Peter’s death, but Anna received news that interrupted.
After Finn assured Anna it could wait, Valentin found out about the helicopter pilot flying out of New York Methodist now.
Since things were up in the air at ELQ, Valentin let Anna know he could accompany her on the trip.
