General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) has a medical background and sees a side of Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) that others don’t see, so could she convince Jason to go back to medical school and become a doctor like he was meant to?
Before Jason’s car accident in 1995, he was poised to become Dr. Jason Quartermaine and save the lives of countless patients at GH. However, Jason suffered some brain damage and wound up finding a new path as Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) dangerous enforcer.
Jason opened up to Britt recently about not really questioning if it was the right choice. It was just the choice Jason made since Sonny was willing to give him a job and treated him like a competent human being.
Jason learned to be skilled with a gun, but he admitted he’s not proud of it. He’s merely grateful that it allows him to protect his loved ones when necessary. That was a deep and intriguing conversation that could easily set up a new career path for Jason.
It’s not too late for Jason to head down a medical road and become a doctor with Britt’s help. The show’s definitely trying to bring the focus back to the hospital itself and do more storylines in that major hub.
Jason is still an awesome action hero for the show, but he’s not getting any younger! He may not be able to chase the bad guys in a decade or two, so it’d be wise to have a backup career plan to keep Jason fulfilled and involved in storylines. Perhaps there could be a new chapter for Jason as a doctor.
Of course, this might open the door to Jason and Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) reconnecting at some point. Jason would no longer be part of that risky mob world, so a “JaSam” reunion would be possible if they both still wanted it.
On the other hand, it could create tension instead! Sam might resent the fact that Jason would walk away for Britt and a new career, but people grow and change.
Jason didn’t think he could turn his back on Sonny’s world at the time, but he may change his mind eventually. That’s especially true if Jason trains a replacement.
Whatever the case, it’d be fun to see Jason fulfill his doctor destiny if the show wanted to get that back on track. How would you feel about a new career and life overhaul for Jason? We’ll pass along updates as other GH news comes in.
