The episode begins with Amy and Chris who have decided on Roloff Farm. The couple met at the farm and they’ve had celebrations there as well. The farm was a part of their life. They were happy to celebrate there and it also didn’t hurt that the farm was the one place that wouldn’t put restrictions on them. However, Amy was still weirded out by the idea she has to run things past her ex-husband. Matt now owns the farm in full. He bought out Amy’s shares and so the farm is his to do what he likes. He’s building a log cabin. He’s also building his dream home and Chris asked him about it when the couple visited the farm. They visited to tell Matt that they chose the farm as the venue for their wedding. Amy wanted to draw up an official contract so that things were professional between her and her ex. And so leave it to Chris to be interested in Matt’s life.
Chris and Matt were casual friends. Their friendship developed in spite of Amy who didn’t want the two men hanging out and so she shut down Chris from asking about Matt’s building plans. Amy really doesn’t want the two men to be friends. She doesn’t mind if they’re friendly. They’re both going to be grandparents to the same grandchildren and so Amy took issue with them being friends because she thought it would be too weird to have her ex and her new husband discussing what it’s like to be married to her. Amy wants to create distance between the two men. She also wants Matt as far away from the wedding as humanly possible. She doesn’t want him in the way and he was smart enough not to antagonize her.
Matt wasn’t going to the wedding. He was going to set things up and then leave. Amy’s wedding is right before pumpkin season. Which is their biggest season at the farm and so Matt was going to set things up for that as well and then he was going to leave it to Amy. Amy prefers to have Matt out of the way. She also would try to shut down his relationship with Chris but there’s no stopping it and Chris finally revealed how deep his friendship with Matt goes. They share stock tips. Amy didn’t like it when she found out about him and really there was nothing she could do about it. Chris was a people person. He gets along with everyone and it shouldn’t have surprised her that he developed a friendship with Matt.
Matt meanwhile doesn’t know about Amy’s new rules. He was busy helping Caryn renovate her new house. They were going to tear down her deck and create something better in the space. Matt wanted to go all out. He drew up plans. He wanted to create a koi pond. He wanted to throw in a monolith and Caryn didn’t have enough space for all of it. She was flattered he drew up plans. She even called it sweet only she couldn’t incorporate everything into her backyard and so she had to ask Matt to scale things down. Like she never heard about monolith until then. Caryn loves her new house and she was to do it up. It just wasn’t going to involve a monolith. Caryn’s new house was going to be done to her tastes.
Caryn was someone else who wasn’t going to be attending the wedding. Things were always odd between her and Amy and so Caryn was going to help get everything ready and then she’s going to shoo like Matt. The two of them are a great fit. Their relationship is stronger than ever and maybe one day soon it will be their wedding that they’re preparing for. The two of them were planning on living together once the dream home was built. Matt also moved one of his custom chairs into Caryn’s house. Matt has been working on custom-built chairs for little people and so having his chair at Caryn’s house made the house more suited to his needs. Matt and Caryn are a great fit. She understands his cooky side and he makes her laugh.
Amy was better suited to Chris. Later, Amy and Chris discussed everything they had to get ready. They have to send out wedding invitations. They’ve officially moved in together and they’re just starting to share their finances which is tricky for Amy. Amy has to unlearn to panic after her many years with Matt. He would buy things on a whim and it would be these huge expenses that Amy would then have to make sense of and so she likes that Chris lets her in on the decisions. Amy was having a hard time planning a wedding. She’s been around as all four children have gotten married. Only she has never planned a modern wedding. Amy got married thirty-three years ago and she did it all in three months. She didn’t have to save the date cards or even real invitations. The invitations back then were by word of mouth.
Amy so wants everything to be perfect this time that she asked Zach and Tori for advice. The couple thought it was her way of involving the kids and so they helped and they told her to shoot for May in sending out invitations because by the time she does them it will actually be late June. Zach and Tori also did a fun hangout with Jackson. They wanted to do something with just him because they wanted Jackson to feel special and not have to share the limelight with his baby sister. And so they took the toddler sledding.
And Jackson wiped out on the first sled but he regained his courage and he went back down with his dad again.
