In tonight’s NCIS Hawai’i episode a man riding a horse collapsed on a busy street. The man who was later identified as Marine Master Sergeant Kaleo Whitman and he collapsed because he was shot. The victim claimed he didn’t know who shot him. He had been riding his horse through a hunting area and he thinks his shooting could have been an accident. But NCIS checked.
The area that Whitman claimed he was shot wasn’t a designed hunting area. It was at least two miles away and Whitman wasn’t shot with a hunting rifle. He was shot by a handgun. The marine should have known that and so why was he lying? The team continued to dig into Whitman’s story. They proved his shooter was driving an ATV and those things are loud. Whitman would have heard it.
Whitman would also have seen the shooter if they got close enough to him with a handgun. The only about his story that turned out to be true was that he was shot and the rest was fiction. Whitman was involved in something. NCIS Special Agent Tennant and her team were investigating. They tried to go back to the hospital to interrogate Whitman when they learned he left and so they went looking for him. They went to Alia Ranch. It was owned by a family that took Whitman in after he started acting up as a teenager and its where Whitman learned his love of horses. Whitman’s family were modern day cowboys. They live by a certain code and so no one wanted to talk. Tennant’s team had to threaten one of them with arrest if they didn’t assist.
Whitman’s cousin revealed he brought clothes to the hospital for Whitman. He also gave him a trip back to ranch where Whitman took a horse and went into the woods. Tennant soon learned that Whitman hung around one of the stalls. She went digging in there and she found a kid’s backpack with three pounds of meth in it. The meth was pure. It also suggested that Whitman was involved in the drug trade and suspicions didn’t fall onto his son until they learned the boy wasn’t at school. He wasn’t at home either. Lucy and Kai went to Whitman’s home. They spoke with his wife and she said she didn’t know where her husband or her son was. The agents were able to talk their way inside. They started asking her questions when she tipped off Lucy.
There was someone in the house other than them. This person attacked Lucy and Kai was forced into shooting and killing him. The two agents rescued Whitman’s wife. She said that her son got in over his head with a gang and that Whitman was trying to sort it out for him when he got shot.
Whitman stashed their son somewhere safe. Whitman went to him after he left the hospital and his wife doesn’t know where they are. She was left in the dark. The team went back to the ranch. They started asking the cousin and the cousin revealed that the teenager Micah had joined a gang in a fit of rebellion. Then he had been given a backpack with meth. Micah was just a kid and he was scared. He tried backing out of the gang. But there was no way for him and so he turned to his dad for help and his father was almost killed because of it.
The cousin knew where Whitman stashed his son. They needed to get there by horse and so he took Tennant and Jesse out on horseback to get there. They later found Whitman and his son Micah. Micah was unscathed but Whitman was too weak to sit a horse by himself. He had to ride with his cousin. The team assured the family that they would help Micah and see to it that he doesn’t see the inside of a jail cell.
They were on their way back when the gang found them. Several armed men on ATVs were driving up on them and so Tennant ordered Whitman to leave with his family. She and her agent were going to handle the rest of the gang. The rest of the team however had traced the drugs back to a specific gang and they tried to go in arresting everyone and they only ended up arresting four people.
The other members of the gang were out there hunting down the Whitmans. They ended up finding Tennant. Tennant got off her horse to talk to them. She managed to buy enough time to convince certain members not to kill a federal agent and eventually help arrived. The gang was arrested. Micah just needed to testify against them and then he could go back to being a happy kid. His father Whitman received proper medical attention. The family was later reunited at the hospital. They were all relieved to hear that Micah wouldn’t be facing jail time and that the case was finally closed. The Whitmans will heal.
Jesse got to learn what its like to be a cowboy and later Kai convinced his father to start seeing his doctor again.
THE END!
