In tonight’s Riverdale episode, this is Hiram Lodge’s story as no one really knows how he became the businessman and villain he is now. Hiram is on the phone, telling someone he will handle it tonight. Reggie comes in and pays his father’s debt in full with cash full of a suitcase. Reggie plans to continue to work for Hiram still but he has ideas. Hiram agrees but he needs a favor – a ghost gun that cannot be traced. Reggie agrees.
Reggie heads back to the dealership where he tries to sell a car to a father and his son. He cuts his dad off during the sale. After, his dad is mad. Reggie doesn’t care. He tells him he also plans to continue to work for Hiram. His dad heads to plead with Hiram. Hiram doesn’t care. Reggie brings Hiram a gun and plans to return later that night. He visits one last time with his time. He reminds his dad how abusive he was and how Hiram is a better man.
Reggie tells Hiram he is done with his father. Hiram shares a little about his own dad. He grew up in New York. Together, they polished shoes. One day they were tipped with palladium. Later, they moved to Riverdale, shining shoes outside of Pops. Hiram met a gangster who offered him work. He visits him behind his dad’s back. He starts making deliveries and making a lot of money. He buys new shoes and more. Feeling confident, he even asks Hermione out at school. She agrees. He takes her to Pops. While there they discuss their families and more. The police come in, arresting Hiram for trafficking drugs.
Hermione runs to the gangsters, telling them about Hiram in jail. They get him out and promote him to a collector. They also sell him to keep his girl around. She has his back. Hiram also decides to change his name. He is a new man.
Several guys tease Hiram at schools for changing his name. He beats them top after class. At home, his dad tells him he is shaming their family. Hiram tells him he is ashamed to be his son. Hiram’s dad heads to see the gangsters, telling them to stay away from his son. The next day, he is ginned down in front of Pop’s.
Everyone attends Hiram’s dad’s funeral. After, Hiram learns Vito and the others had his dad killed. Hiram heads to their hideaway and shoots them dead. Years pass, he marries Hermoine and has Veronica. He came back to Riverdale in search of the palladium. He found some other prison but it’s gone. There is some under the Blossom’s Maple Groves. He plans to get it. For now, he needs to visit the man in prison who killed his dad. Reggie agrees to bring him.
Hiram arrives at a nursing home. There he kills Vito in his bed. He then tells Reggie he is free. Hiram tells him if he could go back, back to his dad, he would. Reggie tells him he cannot go back. Hiram tells him he has to. Reggie returns to his father. His dad apologizes. He has done him wrong.
At home alone, Hiram watches his wife and Veronica talk about him on video. He will never be happy, Hermione says. Hiram plans to get the palladium and his family back too.
