In tonight’s So Freaking Cheap finale episode, there’s cheapness and then there’s cheapness. Shelly put together a wedding for her daughter and the budget was seven hundred and fifty dollars. Yet, Shelly came under budget with everything she bought. She did the wedding prep herself. She put together the food items for the reception.
She bought cucumbers because they were on sale and so the whole menu was tied around cucumbers. They made sandwiches for them as well as cucumber salads. The wedding venue was at a chiropractor’s office that they got to use for free. They decorated the venue with succulents and tumbleweeds that they got for free. The bride was wearing a hand-me-down wedding dress. She was squeezed into it because she was a bit too big for the dress and so they had to have alterations done to it.
The couple also saved on their engagement photos. They took photos at an estate sale. The Watson family was so cheap that the first time Shelly will get to meet her new in-laws will be at the wedding. Her daughter had been embarrassed to introduce her before the wedding because she feared Shelly would do something or say something to reveal her cheapness.
So, the bride’s family hasn’t met the groom’s family. They met at the wedding. The very cheap wedding. The wedding that the bride wasn’t dreaming about as a child and so the only happiness there was Shelly. Shelly was one cheap mama. Another cheap mama was Becky. Becky was a part of the Guiles family and her husband pretty much told her to spend money for the sake of their marriage.
Becky’s husband Jay gave her a thousand-dollar budget to decorate a room. He told her to use it and lessen the burden on herself. Becky took the money. She ended up spending five hundred dollars and she made the room looking good. Her DIY projects also fit the room. Everything came together and she spent a good deal of her budget and so her marriage is saved.
Shelley’s daughter’s marriage is at risk. Shelley gave her daughter her own used lingerie as a gift to the bride. Shelley didn’t see the problem with sharing lingerie or even underwear. She firmly believes it’s better to use every chance they get and so she ignored the horrified look at her daughter’s face. Her daughter didn’t want to wear her mother’s lingerie.
Britney was a bride. She wanted to have sexy moments with her soon-to-be husband without being reminded of her mother and what her mother does with her father. Brittney didn’t want that. She wanted to be married. She wanted to impress everyone. She wanted her family’s cheapness not to be on such display. Did you know her venue was decorated with flowers created toilet paper?
The family doesn’t use toilet paper. They use a rag that they have drenched in a bucket of bleach. Shelly said it saves money but use a rag that has bleach on it to clean your sensitive parts wasn’t a good idea. It could cause a breakout or an infection. The family should really start using toilet paper and maybe Brittney will implement it once she’s at her own house.
Brittney and Shane’s later wedding was beautiful. They exchanged vows from the heart and her mother didn’t find out about their wedding bands until the couple was putting it on the other’s fingers. The couple thought that would be the worst they had to deal with and yet Shelly found new ways to embarrass Britney. Brittney found out her mother reused the penis cake.
Her mother created a cake to look like a penis for Brittney’s bachelorette party. Now, her mother has removed certain pieces of the cake and she wishes to reuse them for Brittney’s wedding reception. Brittney was horrified to see the penis cake. She asked her mother to remove and the woman refused. She said they had to use it while they can.
Shelley had had enough of the cake leftover from the bachelorette shower that she put more frosting on it in order to serve it as a wedding cake. She really is cheap and thankfully the cake doesn’t look the same. There was an also issue with the wedding rings. Shelley wanted to know how much the couple spent on them and they lied. They said they stayed within budget.
Shelley still put together a wedding for less than a thousand dollars. The wedding reception looked great. Some people were tired of the cucumbers. Some loved the decorations. But all were amazed that the wedding was put together so cheaply. Shelley did a wonderful job. And she wasn’t the only one full of sur5prises.
Clayton surprised his wife with a new car. Clayton went to therapy with his wife Angela to tackle his cheapness and it helped. He realized he needed to celebrate their anniversary with something big. He got her a car and she loved it.
