The episode begins with the Watson family, Shelley says they use household items to use as gym equipment to save money. Ashley is working out with Shelley she says her mother used to reuse condoms, she remembers her telling her. She tells her mom that they are having a little problem with performance anxiety. Shelley tells her that maybe they should have a romantic weekend, Ashley says that would be great but with her sister and her fiancé living with them takes away the spark. Shelley says she will invite Shane and Brittney over for dinner, she wants to speak to Brittney anyway about sticking to the $750 budget for her wedding.

The Guiles family, Becky says their house is over a hundred years old and she has been trying to renovate as much as possible without costing a lot of money. Her sister Pamela is visiting and she wants to get her help to take down a wall, even though Jay says it is a load-bearing wall. Becky doesn’t have tools, but she uses other objects to replace them. She makes a sledgehammer with a brick and a piece of wood with duct tape. Pamela says Becky is so frugal, she remembers her sister jumping into a fountain and grabbing the change out of it when they were little. Pamela is worried about what Becky is going to do to that wall.

The Clayton family, Tony says today is allowance day, and if he gives paper money, his family has the tendency to go spend it so he gives them change, rolled up. Angela says nobody in their right mind would want to stand in line and pay with pennies. Tony calls himself a crazy obsessed cheapskate. He says he likes to save for a rainy day. His wife works, he stays at home. He says he can find three to four dollars of coins a week. Tony says the coins act as a deterrent to spending money. Angela says they had a beautiful wedding, Tony paid for it with coins. After eight years of marriage, it has gotten so bad that Angela says something has to be done. At the gas station, he gets the family to use the squidgy to wash the outside of the car, he plugs his vacuum in at the gas station and vacuums it himself.

Back to the Watson family, Brittney considers herself the less frugal of the family and Shane didn’t know what to make of her family being so cheap. When they first moved in, it was hard to get used to the shower schedule, but they treat it more as a game. Ashley even grooms her dog by herself to save money. Ashley has made arrangements to take Shane and Brittney’s engagement photos at an estate sale so it won’t cost them anything. Brittney is embarrassed, all her friends are going to ask her where she took her pictures. They find some really cool clothes, some dishes and Brittney is kind of on board with taking the photos there. In the end, Shane and Brittney agree that the photos were better than expected.

The Tran family, golf is an expensive sport, so Danny and Tran try to do whatever they can to save money. Overall they save about a thousand dollars a year, they pick up lost golf balls and do free trials. When they golf they attach a string to the golf ball so they never lose a ball. Rosanna’s motto for golfing is that they come back with more balls than they arrive with. Rosanna brings long boots and goes in the water to find lost balls.

At the Guiles house, the contractor arrives and Becky tells him about the wall she wants to remove. He tells her it is a load-bearing wall and not a project she can do on her own. She shows him her DIY sledgehammer that she made, he tells her it is creative but it is made of hollow brick and will probably break if she hit it on the ground. He quotes her three to four thousand dollars to remove the wall. He says this is not a project that she should try to save money on, it could end badly.

At the Watson house, Ashley is on another DIY project, waxing. She made her own wax that cost her $1 a month and her mother waxes her for free.

The Clayton’s are out for lunch, Tony orders water and lemons and makes his own lemonade. Ciara wants to have friends over, Tony agrees, as long as he does the shopping and controls everything.

Ashley is preparing for her special night with Colby, she asks him if he is still on board for trying to have a child. He says he will be ready when they get there. She says she is ready, maybe they should give it a test run.

THE END
