In tonight’s episode of The Bachelorette, the episode begins with the men being upset with Karl for things he said to Katie about the other men. The other men don’t think he is there for the right reasons, just to start drama. Justin is upset because he didn’t get time with Katie, and it is not fair what Karl did. Katie comes into the room, she says she is not in the right mindset, she is giving nobody else any time, they are going right to the Rose Ceremony.
Josh thinks this is the worst-case scenario of what could happen. Greg goes to check on Katie to see if she is ok while Tre is furious and says that Karl is disrespectful. Karl single handily made Katie doubt her relationship with everyone. Meanwhile, Karl is in another room and he doesn’t care what the other guys think. Nobody likes Karl anymore they think he is a snake; he made baseless accusations about the other men and they have no idea what Katie is thinking. Meanwhile, Katie wants to trust Karl, but she is confused.
Time for the Rose Ceremony, Katie says she is there to find her husband and to fall in love, she hopes they are there for the same reasons. Tonight, she is confused, but she is going to follow her heart.
Roses go out to David, Hunter, Connor C., Mike P.
Mike P., speaks for the group and tells Katie that what Karl said was not true, she thanks him. She asks the men if they feel the same way, they all nod. Katie excuses herself. There is a lot of tension in the air and it is daunting. Katie goes to get some advice from Tayshia and Kaitlyn, the girls tell her it is her decision, and no matter what, they have her back.
Roses continue Michael, Connor B., Quartney, Tre, Justin, Andrew M., Christian, Josh, Brendan, James.
There is one rose left and Karl is confident that he is going to get it. The final rose of the evening goes to Aaron. Karl looks embarrassed, nobody wants to say goodbye to him, he skips over Katie and walks out the door. Katie has once again, for the second night in a row, cleaned the house.
Some of the men are in the hot tub chilling and talking about what down last night. Conor C.., is so happy that Karl went home and he is extremely hopeful that his name is going to be on the date card – this one is for Aaron, Qaurtney, James, Connor B., David, Justin, Thomas, Hunter “love is about honesty and I need 100%…” The men are excited but very nervous about what the day will hold.
They meet Katie and she says that last night was tough, but ultimately they are there to find love with her. She has a friend with her today and he is going to help her to get clarity. They walk into a room and Nick is there, he has been through a lot of this. The chairs in the room are formed in a circle, it looks like some kind of intervention. Nick says he knows exactly what they are going through, and he has been in Katie’s shoes and she is serious about finding love. Nick says he is there to hold them accountable, to be truthful, and tell things about what they are not necessarily proud of.
Connor B. knows there are things from his past that he is not proud of and he is very uncomfortable. This is meant to be a soul-searching, meaningful date. Hunter says he met a woman, the one he knew he would spend the rest of his life with. They got married and had a baby girl, by the time he had his son, he shifted priorities. They drifted apart and he failed at marriage and it affected two amazing kids. He never thought of divorce for himself. The stories go on, the men telling some of their most inner relationship secrets. Thomas’s reveal sounds more like a sales pitch. Connor B., says drinking became more and more a part of his life, he would get blackout drunk.
One night he got really drunk, picked a fight with his girlfriend, got more drunk, cheated on her, and blew up his whole life in one day. From there he read every self-help he could and went to therapy. He hurt someone and he carries a lot of guilt for that. He used that to become a better man. The guys were a little nervous, but they opened up about stuff that they didn’t want to talk about. Katie tells them that ten years ago, on New Year’s eve, she had been drinking and she was involved in a situation where there wasn’t consent and she doesn’t wish that on anybody.
She was in denial, so much so that she tried to form a relationship with him. It created a bad feeling for her about sex, and it has taken a lot for her to get to where she is today, and she wants them to know that she has come a long way to where she was ten years ago, how important consent and communication are. In some ways, she says it has shaped her into who she is today.
Nick says truth is a powerful thing, it brings people closer together. Everyone stands up and they hug. Katie feels like a weight has been lifted from her shoulders and she thinks it is going to help them all going forward.
Michael has this weight on his shoulders, being a single dad. He has been holding back because he hasn’t found the right time to speak to Katie. His wife passed away from breast cancer, overnight his life flipped upside down and they had a small child. Mike is speechless, he doesn’t know what to say to Michael.
It is time for the group date cocktail party, a lot of the men are looking forward to some one-on-one time with Katie. Katie toasts the men, she thanks them for being vulnerable and honest, it is all she can ask for. At this point, Katie has no idea who she wants to give the group date rose to.
Thomas is with Katie and he still sounds like a salesman, he thinks his time with her wasn’t what he wanted it to be. When Thomas is put on the spot it comes off as prepared. Thomas admits that his nerves were rattled and he let it get the best of him. He goes back to see Katie, he tells her that fear and love are rooted in the same concept and when he looks at her he feels that way. She is special, and he feels that fear and he hasn’t felt that way in a long time, and he needs her to know that. She tells him that he is so passionate about his feelings and she loves that, she is happy that he is there. Thomas leans in for a kiss and she kisses him back.
Another date card arrives, this one is for Michael A., “Love is an adventure, love Katie.” Michael has a flurry of emotions, he wants to tell her why he is there. He is nervous for the first time since he has been there.
Katie returns to the man, she gives the rose to Connor B., and thanks him for opening up to her.
Thomas flat out told everyone that he told Katie he was falling in love with her. Aaron finds his behavior disturbing, he thinks he is cancer and needs to be cut out until he is absolutely gone.
It is time for Michael A. to have his date with Katie, she pulls up in a dune buggy and tells him she thought it would be fun just to get out of the house and have a little adventure. He has been waiting for this day for so long and he is really nervous. Since his wife passed away, he has had difficulty opening up.
He has strong feelings for Katie and that is scary. It’s challenging opening up his heart again, but he is excited. They stop and sit down for a rest. She admits that in practice, she flipped over a dune buggy earlier in the day, they laugh. He tells her that he held off sharing his life with her, he was looking for the right time. He tells her that right now his life is better because of her. He asks to kiss her and she says yes. They walk hand in hand back to the dune buggy and kiss again.
Back to the other men, Aaron says the group date wasn’t that much fun, they opened up a lot and he is unnerved by Thomas who told him that his time with Katie was more important than his with her. Connor B., thinks that Thomas has lost the trust from the other men. Hunter tries to speak to Thomas, to give him some advice, but it backfires. Hunter thinks if Thomas digs his ditch further, he is going to be out of shovels.
Katie and Michael are at dinner, she looks very happy and she hopes the feeling and connection that she feels she has with him continues. He tells her that he has been waiting for a moment to tell her about him. He tells her 16 years ago he saw his wife on campus, he knew that was it, it was everything. They married in 2012, in 2016 they had James, the greatest gift ever. Life was perfect, then seven years after James is born, his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and it took a stronghold. He says they traveled the country aimlessly to find a cure, never giving up hope, but in January 2019 she passed away.
She was in a room full of people she loved and on that day he was happy that she wasn’t in pain anymore. The following days and months, to rebuild his life without that critical part in it, was difficult. He knows what it is like to love, to give everything. He finally got into this place where he is ready to open his heart. He looks at it as a gift, to be able to fall in love twice. She tells him that she feels very fortunate to have him there.
Katie is touched by the whole thing, she is overwhelmed with sadness for his pain but happy for what their love could be. Katie picks up her rose and she gives it to him. They go up to the room to look at the stairs. With Michael, she feels that if they both walked away from this, it would be a forever love. She really believes that this could be the beginning of falling in love with Michael and it is so unexpected.
Aaron thinks Thomas is trying to be successful with Katie for the wrong reasons and it is disturbing. The men are calling him a pathologic liar. Thomas’ reputation is crumbling in the viewpoint of the house. Hunter in fact is done being kind.
All the men are in a room together, Hunter speaks about the situation with Thomas, he turns and looks at him, calls him out in front of anyone, and calls him fraudulent. Thomas says he wouldn’t do anything to hurt him, he is sorry that this is the result. Hunter asks Thomas if he came into this with thoughts of being the next Bachelor, Thomas says yes. Hunter says that explains a lot, and it is upsetting and frustrating. Tre tells Thomas that he did a good job of manipulation. Thomas says it is out of his mind now. Now, Katie has been tricked by at least three guys. When Katie finds out, she is going to be hurt.
THE END!
